Vertical landing on frontlines

We didn't know that it was possible. Here withe CA firefly 2.5. Landing is compatible with hydrofoil windranges ... not sure for directional, we still have to test.

Beware, we do not recommend this, we are advanced riders and we are exploring whether this could be an avenue for future designs. We were even surprised that it could be done.

Landing, Meh, but the potential of vertical reel it out there launch is pretty damn exciting. Even just from a cuban yo yo or something, that could be a nice step in evolution.

You can land any kite like this you just need it to be lightly powered. Technique as in video is to pull both lines then to pull one line slight more on the opposite side it is drifting to. You continue pulling both lines with them offset and continue making adjustments as needed. You usually need to be careful to not make the kite overfly as it gets close. So don't pull too fast, but being quick helps it not drift far and is generally the way to do this.

Like a Peter Lynn Arc. But the auto zenith of the arcs made it really easy, no steering needed.

I've done this on my Peaks a few times, in ULTRA light winds. Steering isn't hard with the front lines but once you get it about half way down the steering lines get too loose, kite starts losing its shape, flaps and becomes very erratic. Tried this in little higher winds and it's just not worth the risk.

Their was wind in the video. With the FF it is doable in the windrange in which you can ride with it on an hydrofoil. This is why boZZo did the video.

So is the FF more stable than the Peak? I would think closing some cells could increase stability. I would be interested what closing more of the kite will produce. Kites with 1/3 ,2/3, 3/4 cord closed etc. I was thinking maybe just a small band on the TE as single skin so to help with drift etc.

I did this with a Peak3 12m and a Peak4 5m. There was wind and I was riding but it was still what I consider ultra light wind. I’ve also just pulled the front line on my inflatable to crash it straight down, in light wind. This is stupid in high winds with large kites. The reason I tried this on the Peaks was to catch the kite and not get sand on it. The reason I tried this on the inflatable was because I read somewhere Lou Wainman did it and caught one on short lines. Wasn’t worth it for me. In that video the kite still crashes down at the end. Though I was mostly able to bundle my Peaks some sand still got on it.
