Hello
I started to build a few pocket boards, and wanted to ask for your opinion on a good method to attach the foil to the board. Initially I thought about just having through holes, and using a bolt and washer, but that doesn't look great IMO. Alternatively, I thought about using an embedded T-nut, however unless you have the T nut hole go through the top of the board, how can i guarantee that the bolt is tight enough and there's enough thread engagement?
My latest idea is to embed a wide stainless steel washer under the lamination, and countersink the hole from the top of the board and use a flat head torx screw. The head would be nicely embedded, but still noticeable, but not nearly as bad as a big washer showing.
Can you share some ideas? tks

Get some SS blind end inserts like they use on snowboards. Drill their hole all the way through the foam to the top deck, clean it up and fill with chopped glass and resin, so the insert gets well bonded through to the deck laminate. Mine are under a 20oz glass plate the runs farther forward than the mast base and a few layers of carbon stringer and bottom laminate. I have three sets of inserts in my 108cm board and for strapless, it gives plenty of option. Tough as nails.
Don't do T'nuts. They are great for afterthought addition to wood boards and such, but if your building. Get inserts. It sucks to have through holes as they disturb the deck right where you want to stand. Undisturbed deck is by far nicer than even countersunk holes.

There is no "disturbance" on my builds:
viewtopic.php?f=107&t=2387451&p=988193& ... ld#p988193
The T-nut used on any tracks has the same threads height as ones on this board.
For sure on TT we do not remove straps often but than buy Naish amasing plate and thats it.
As shark says the trick is to embed inserts in enougy FG of CF.
Plenty of "teeth" to stay put.

Thanks so much. I ordered the snowboard inserts, go the deepest one (8.5mm) so there's a lot of thread available. These are M6 SS with a hex head.

Recently I did a surfboard conversion to a foilboard, used stringers with bronze barrel nuts in them, works well.

These are snowboard inserts that you could use. Set them in some ABS sheet and use resin and glass bubbles mix to glue into the blank. Then laminate over the top with several layers of additional cloth. When cures drill through laminate to expose hole and thread. The photos show then being used for foot hook mounts on one of my builds.

Alternatively, install US fin boxes to allow for adjustment. Cut slots for the boxes and use resin and glass bubbles mix to fit. Then fill the box with plasticine or blue tac or wax before laminating the board (add several extra patches of cloth over the boxes. When cured cut through the laminate to the tracks. Photo shows a current build prior to installing the tracks
