We have a kite trip from February 20th-March 4th. The house is an amazing house with its own marina and Boat to do Moriah Cay and other excursions and offshore kite trips. If you cannot do the full 2 weeks, the last 7 nights (26th-4th) would be prefect. Need to know ASAP. Round trip tickets right now from North East are around $500. We split expenses. Estimate $100-$150/day for room/board/food/car rental/boat cost(everything).
not sure if we'll stop @georgetown/great exuma island (anchorage there gets crowded).. but the (very rough) plan is to cross yellow bank and be in the exumas by early feb..
not technically a kite trip (will be traveling via sailboat on thorn(less) path towards french antilles)... but i will have the kite gear and will foil whenever possible
there are more than 360 islands in that chain and kiteboarding(and spearfishing) paradise is found on many of them.
i could happily spend years in the exumas and not think twice about it
edit:
finally left the boat @ stocking island off great exuma..
the kitesurfing was as expected...excellent.
no waves... but the water is as clear as it gets.
however i'd strong recommend having a dingy or hired 'watch' boat available to you.. is irrelevant if wind off or on shore. the surge is the problem.
it can be tremendous at times..
and the tide either moving in our out 4x a day. (and again.. the surge of all the water will push you far offshore in a hurry
also..
if you have a shark phobia.. the exumas may not be the best choice.
the positive..
i didnt see any while foiling in PM(evenings)..
however.. in a little over a week..
while spear fishing the exact same areas in the mornings..
i saw maybe 20 or so big boys (mostly lemons..a few nurse on bottom.. 'maybe' a tiger(i didnt try to confirm..i got out of water).. and others i couldnt ID.
non of those "others" non arched their backs, swam nervously or took aggressive postures.. but due to their size i got out the water anyways.
