Needs more research but back in my windsurfing days I would easily remove boom grip with similar glue this way: Find a large plastic garbage bag, seal the item inside overnight with a wetting of toluene, MEK, or any strong paint thinner. In the morning the grips just fell off.
I’d be very reluctant to try that with a board. Aluminum booms wouldn’t dissolve.PurdyKiter wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 2:46 pmNeeds more research but back in my windsurfing days I would easily remove boom grip with similar glue this way: Find a large plastic garbage bag, seal the item inside overnight with a wetting of toluene, MEK, or any strong paint thinner. Start with less potent chemical then, but in my experience anything -- paint thinner, acetone, isopropyl alcohol -- works just fine. Pump it into a syringe, apply a little to the corner of a desk pad, then pull. Pull more and apply more solvent to the opening. Continue till the finish. With this method chemical solvent evaporates before inflicting any damage.purdyd wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 4:33 pmI’d be very reluctant to try that with a board.
