how do you remove the old deckpads?
Needs more research but back in my windsurfing days I would easily remove boom grip with similar glue this way: Find a large plastic garbage bag, seal the item inside overnight with a wetting of toluene, MEK, or any strong paint thinner. In the morning the grips just fell off.

I’d be very reluctant to try that with a board. Aluminum booms wouldn’t dissolve.

Start with less potent chemical then, but in my experience anything -- paint thinner, acetone, isopropyl alcohol -- works just fine. Pump it into a syringe, apply a little to the corner of a desk pad, then pull. Pull more and apply more solvent to the opening. Continue till the finish. With this method chemical solvent evaporates before inflicting any damage.

That’s different than putting the board in a bag with solvent overnight.

And my experience with slingshot boards is that the adhesive will not pull off the board with the pad, even with the procedure you describe.

In fact on the dwarfcraft micro the pads just peeled off like tape, but the glue was still stuck on the board. I have found that solvent and a lot of rubbing or scraping will get this off.

Sometimes, you can as you describe, pull off some of the glue with the pad.

Maybe I am just getting old or glue is getting better but the handiest tool I have used is a vibrating cutter with a scraper blade along with solvent to get the glue off of the board.

Yes, to remove old deck pads, cover the pad with an old towel. Soak the towel in Mineral Spirits. Then wrap the board and towel in plastic wrap and let sit overnight. In the morning you should be able to peel the pad off and easily scrape away the old glue.

Well I had an issue with the pad too thick for the screw and tried some different foils and struggled and stripped out the screw hole and so I thought I would do something different.

Rspro hextraction and a can of black primer.

I always struggle finding a good pad for my pocket boards

I bought the deck pad from Groove and it is excellent in terms of grip and only 1mm thick.
Best pad ever.

I removed the groove skate deck pads easily by using my jet wash,
but with the very powerful patio lance with the ball bearing inside to spin the water into an aggressive thin rotating water jet, it would rip your skin off, and of course deckpads easily,
flipping thing did not touch the glue just tore the pads into shreds leaving the tacky stuff on the board,
neat acetone was used to soften the glue, and a wide plastic hand held scraper to push off the glue after it softened,
new groove skate pads come with a peel off plastic back revealing a super strong tacky layer, no messy glue to get everywhere,
perfect grip for a foilboard, a bit expensive I thought, 70 euro :o post extra
