Line organizer - Make rigging your kite easy and quick with this

Postby Toby » Sat Dec 28, 2019 3:10 pm

In this video, I'll show you a simple way to make a line organizer using a simple IKEA clip. Check how you rig your lines to the kite in an easy and quick way with this. It's cheap and inexpensive way of getting your kite ready faster.

Personally, I feel it is far better to go through the rigour of laying lines out, not second guessing they are in the right order on a kite line organiser then a second check prior to launch. No need to pack that way either.

Personally my kites are my organizers
Ever since my first kite Wipika in 99 the lines stay on when I pack precisely... so they are already organized when I set-up in exact reverse
I just don't take lines off ever
Sure it cost a lot more some will say....$$$ especially when you use 8 different size kites....but all bar & lines are tuned to each kite...i like that
I say to each is own ….just do what works for you and makes you happy
If you find it's a hassle to take lines on and off.... then that's the way to do it
When i sell my kites they are sold complete with the lines on and when i buy a new kite i buy complete with bar and put the lines on....one time

How do you tune your lines still attached to the kites?

what do you mean by tunning your lines? Checking length? If yes - never had issue with different line length more than once a year /even less actually/ so no problem take line lines from kite to do this.

Personally the only tuning needed is slacking the steering lines evenly under the floats after lots of riding
And shorten front lines pigtails evenly in addition if more is needed
 So yes...technically two lines are loosened up from bar or kite for a small amount of time while doing that
My lines do not become uneven right side/left side
Since the kites gets looped/ downlooped evenly on port/starboard during moves & transitions during sesh
Being symmetrical with kite loopings has it's perks
Verifying the tuning is done with kites flying at full front lines power & bar fully pulled.... in their individual lowest wind speed range at 60 degree angle
If it stays up nice and rock steady with the steering lines almost tight (look for tiny sag ) without backstalling then you got yourself a tuned kite

Poststrings, if I read you correctly you have a bar permanently attached to each kite...Is it difficult to wash your bar with fresh water this way?

If you must wash because it is part of your maintenance routine ....
....not at all since the bar/lines are on top of the folded kite with about 2 feet of loose lines coming out of kite central leading edge

Personally my kitesurfing is all done on sandy beaches....
.... and after a session the wet bar/chicken loop always go on top of kite canopy then will go on top of my surfboard

Wet bar/chicken loop never gets to touch the sand
Sure some sand can still appear on moist lines after a session....
... but it comes off rather easily by hitting bar with palms a few times once they are all wound up

The kite along with bar/lines can all fit in the bag with the bar lengthwise on top of kite .... so it is easy to reach for if you want to wash
After washing position your bar vertically against a wall for example overnight to drip dry... a couple feet from your kite in the bag
