Already told yas world champs get about a grand a week base rate. Thats equivelant to a full time supermarket or warehouse job where im at.

Aint bad for ya mid 20s gets a bit how ya goin once you start getting houses and kids in the mix

Then everything else they make ontop of that is extra comps judgeing prizes extra shoots etc etc etc

I dont know i think learning about diet fitness athletiscicmsmsmsmmsss is thrown in aswell coaching trainers etc

Point is... If your a carpenter your probably on more then a world champ kitesurfer i certainly know whose utes and vans are nicer

Maybe not allowed to say anything...

many well known pros practice/live on the same well known kitespots that are frequented by members of these forums..some own/operate kite shops, schools B&Bs, restaurants..
..other do coaching or teach kiting, yoga whatever..some take yacht crew or other seasonal gigs.
i know a couple spanish speaking islanders have their sugarmamas........

i would be surprised if very many are compensated anything more gear to ride and (maybe) reimbursement for travel/living expenses for an annual photo shoot..

it will be interesting what will happen if kiting when officially an olympic sport...
will governments begin supporting top shelf athletes (ala wrestling)?

I think they will get some financial support if Olympic...at least in Germany. Richer countries should, wonder about poorer countries like DR.

Im guessing here...

But most likely only one rider is making above 200k.

Maybe Kai Lenny makes that or double that, someone mentioned a million annual which sounds like too much even for him. that is most of - if not all from surf and windsurf comp/reppin tho.

The same is true in snow sports. The top Olympic caliber snowboard athletes are not living in multiple homes or driving fancy SUVs full of Jrs. They deff are not making 200k a year.

You have Travis Rice and that is about it. He actually made enough to buy a used sailboat catamaran that he has now sold.

When kiting will be Olympic sport biggest part of finances will go as always to bureucracy, paper, offices, heads salaries and only smallest part will go to athlets.

There are quite a few surfers who earn well over a million a year:

Definitely some skiers/snowboarders making more than 200k a year if you include all social media income etc. There are people blogging about food and make up in a small country like Norway making more than 200k a year (dollars).

Jon Olsson spent 400k just on one of his cars.

How much money do these riders make for the brands?

North started this year with very few riders. I knew people planning to switch to North before they knew any riders.

Having a good team is important but you can take any good riders and market them well and it you'll have a good team. They don't have to be winning comps. For this reason there isn't massive reason to pay them highly.
