NP/Cabrinha Mast Compatibility

Postby SWO_kite » Wed Jan 08, 2020 4:41 pm

Hi friends,

I have a NP CRX foil that I've been using over the past year. As you know the stock CRX wings had some issues with the composite materials cracking. While I've mended the issue on these wings and they perform great, it's only a matter of time before they fail beyond repair.

I'd like to replace these wings soonish, but I think I'm limited to very few options that will fit the CRX fuselage. I know the fuselage design is same the as Cabrinha because I swap out the 90cm CRX mast for a 60cm Cabrinha mast from time to time. Fast forward a couple years, new Cabrinha foil products have maintained the same fastener dimensions, locations and sizes. I was looking around and it seems I cannot buy a new HI:RISE fuselage + wings ONLY ??? Everywhere I look it comes as a complete kit (base, mast, fuselage, wings, fasteners).

Does anyone know if Cabrinha masts are compatible with other manufacturers fuselage?

I think it's obvious that I'm trying to reduce the cost of my next solution. If money were no object I would just buy an entire Cabrinha HI:RISE kit and mount it to my CRX board - Or even get an entire new complete foil board.

I would call a CAB dealer and see if you can get a fuselage and wings. I recently damaged a stab wing from hitting a floating log and I was able to purchase a replacement.

i doubt that the cabrinha fuselage will fit the np mast,as the np is wider than the cabrinha mast,I think.

Both the NP and Cab masts I currently own are functionally identical aside from their respective lengths.

I'd be very surprised if the HI:RISE fuselage didn't mate to the Cab mast I currently own.

Hi:rise mast is fully compatible to older Cabrinha and CRX fuselage. What caduo refers to is the Neilpryde Glide Surf mast.

Check mackiteboarding deals on hi:rise lift and speed. Around 500 USD.
And give Silent Sports a call, they might have some spare CRX wings left.

Thanks guys!

I'll definitely check in with MAC and SS to see if I can order the parts I need.

My foiling experience to this date has been exclusively on the CRX setup so I'm not sure what's different/better about any other brands/models. Ideally, I'd like to try something new to expand my knowledge on what different wings feel like. Easiest solution at this time would be to get my hands on the HI:RISE wings + fuselage and go from there.

I would classify myself as an intermediate on my foil. I have no problems flying it at speed and I'm able to jibe(on the water surface) both directions without falling off...most of the time. This leads me to believe I'm ready for something a little newer and "better".

There are a few other options available to replace your CRX wings. Liquid Force Happy foil wings will fit without any modifications - these wings are easy to find and usually pretty cheap.

Hi Rise wings will not fit on your fuselage - you would have to get a new Hi Rise fuselage as well. Not worth it in my opinion.

PM me for other options, I might be able to set you up with a better wing.
