Bridle line replacement

Broke a rear bridle line on a Concept Air pulsion. Any idea where to get replacement line? It’s the really thin white line. Last time I broke one on an FS kite I was able to buy direct from FS but at significant cost for shipping. TIA

I use fishing line, Jerry browns line one hollow core is very easy to splice and quite underrated for strength, like by 20% I think. https://www.tackledirect.com/jerry-brow ... ectra.html. There is many fishing lines, you can even get them from china on ebay etc, though those are over rated for strength.

The quick temporary solution for a broken line or bridle is to just tie in something to join the broken ends.

I need to replace some z bridle elements on a 10m Access. Thinking of buying in some 16 strand 0.55mm hollow braid, rated @ 100lb fishing line for this sort of general repair.

Is this a reasonable starting point or would you go bigger or smaller for your starter reel of material.

(£10 for 100m 20 - 100lb in 10lb increments 0.2 - 0.55mm and then a jump in price.........)

I also use Jerry Brown one line. I will typically do an end splice to join the two broken lines of bridle so as to maintain as much even prestretch between sides as possible.

I will match by diameter, otherwise if you know the strength of the original bridle you can match by that. I think a similar diameter will have similar strength, stretch and shrink , etc.

There is Jerry Browns Line One Hollow Spliceable and then also Line One which is not spliceable. Many of the fishing lines are not spliceable, but also there can be a large price difference between them too. You can also sew the ends if you can't splice them. Some bridles and fishing lines are a covered type of line which you can't splice. Though that type of line can retain more strength when knotted.

Any recommendation on a good go-to diameter for general use?

I can give you a strength, on older flysurfers the weakest bridle is 100kg or about 200lb. You can use that either as a single line or doubled up to cover most situations. About 2 or 3 lines with also some kiteline will cover most things. I have the JB stuff in 200 and 300lb, plus many other cheap nonsplicable lines for modding kites. Some foil kites have quite a bit thinner and weaker bridle lines now. Maybe you can check on a line plan what your bridle is made from, so to match it. Otherwise PM Regis he would be able to suggest something or email concept air.

Are you guys creating a Brummell splice with this line? And if so, using a guitar string as a tool? I've never spliced lines before but have been watching videos. Looks ok with Amsteel or something thick, but having a tough time imagining it on fishing line.

A piece of MIG welding wire works great too. Stainless is best.

A good place to start is with a simple splice aaaand some stitching.
