The pivot is awesome so if they have tweaked it further for this new brand 1st version they will be on to a winner. If Kev can win king if the air again on it and prove the design is still king how can it not succeed?
That's the most stupid comment on this thread so far.... let's carry on your line of thought .... Ex Naish designer steals

intellectual property from Naish and uses it to design an improved 'pivot' kite ... Naish sue the pants off Reedin and they go bankrupt ...

A more likely scienario is that this is a new version of a new kite and it is different enough from the Pivot that Naish could never come knocking on their door. Hence my comment - don't buy version 1 - tonge in cheek - obviously try before you buy.
How do you know Damian doesn’t own the rights to his own design, if it was he who designed it? Just cause Naish owns the pivot name doesn’t necessarily mean they own the design from the designer fully? Depends on his old contract i guess. People already said the unbranded kite looked like it was pivot dna.

Gheez bro, the UFO comment was stupid... honestly, none of the design aspects of the Pivot are unique. Anyone can pretty much make one. It will most likely be an evolution of it so will be different than the last and the new one will evolve differently also.

Interesting.

Launching a kite brand is completely different from playing peter pan as a pro rider. Skill on the water does not translate to business acumen. It will be interesting to see if they are successful.
But one thing the pro rider does have is an intense desire to succeed and win. That can translate very well into business.

Lou Wainman didn't succeed.
But I assume it was a bit different situation...Lou had no stakes in the company...they basically used his name.

They already have a website.
And why ReedIn ? Maybe because LangerREE and GirarDIN --> ReeDin
Just a guess

Edit : If they remove the pulleys, I'll have a look on these kites !
So will I.

With demise of Rally (GT is not a Rally) the Pivots keep standing as great all around kite which could be used for boosting, waves, surfboard and foil (not sure about walestyle)
I mean one kite fits all kite. And somebody gotta keep that great design alive.

No, and neither did Chasta the snowkiting legend.

It also makes a mockery of the statement that pro's dont make much coin. Launching a kite business froms scratch is going to cost a couple of mill at least both of them would have to punt some serious coin to get it off the ground.
