Crazyfly Raptor extreme or Duotone Jaime textreme? 2020 versions

Postby Ale5jandro » Wed Feb 12, 2020 2:43 am

Hi Everyone,
Ive been kitesurfing for 4 years, with an Ocean Rodeo Origin, amazing first board but I want to upgrade.
I mostly do freeride and some jumps and why not id like to do some tricks here and there that my really heavy board is not helping me right now.

Im between Crazyfly Raptor extreme or Duotone Jaime textreme mostly for what i read since i never tried one.
Im open to suggestions of other boards as well.

I know ideally you try them first but i don have that opportunity.

Thanks!

Alejandro
Ps: one of the things pushing me away from the Jaime is that i read in this forum that the duotone entity fixing are prone to break

They're both awesome boards and very light. The Raptor is probably a little more aggressive than the Jaime and a bit harder landings. As for the pads, the NTT pads were remodeled this year to have a wider reinforcement to prevent the breakage. They've also completely changed the pad to make it much more ergonomic. I've found most shops sell the pads separately these days, so if you prefer the Jaime and are worried about the straps, just buy different ones.

Personally, I'd have the Raptor. I don't think there's much difference in performance between them. The bottom colour is heaps easier to find when you lose it and it has a 3 year warranty.

Thanks Blackened!!
Great description!
One more question: NTTs pads come in different sizes, but CF pads.come in only one. Do you have any idea if they will adapt to my big 14us foot?

If you like the straps you have now on your OR Origin just keep using them, either get a new pair or move your old ones to the new board.
Once I like some pads I stick with them.

Mine are 14-15US and I didn't have problems. Most pads are quite adjustable and adaptable.

I've not tried either board, and can't comment on North - but what I CAN say is that I have experienced absolutely amazing customer service from Crazyfly on the 2 occasions I've contacted them over different issues. I was really impressed, and that fantastic service would certainly influence any future kit choices I make.
And I LOVE my 2018 raptor ltd neon. Best board I've ever owned.

I have a Raptor LTD, which is a littel bit softer, still a full carbon board. love it, wouldnt change it for anything else.
Extreme version hasa bit more agresive design in the tips, and is supposed to be a thad stiffer, though, I havent had the chance to try it.
CF Sraps are very comfortable, if your feet are on the bigger side you ll have no problem, sizing tends to be a bit more difficult for people with small and slim feet.

I agree! Raptor pro ltd is the # 1 board .I own the 136 and 140. Huge difference in the different sizes, not bad just different. Indestructable . Size 14 feet here and the most comfortable pad/strap set up. The new extreme looks like a slightly stiffer board , so it may be a little rougher in the chop than the ltd, just a guess though. Buy it and let us know what you think !

How do you find them different, I am thinking on downsizing to a 136 from a 140 to hold a bit more power. I am thining the 136 might be a little bit snappier in the pop.
