Any woo app for garmin watch?
Actually, Garmin has Bluetooth API open but only for the newer watches (starting with Fenix 5 and higher). If I have time, I could write a WOO app for Garmin. The problem is that I only have Garmin Fenix version 3 and versions 5 and 6 are too expensive, so I wouldn't be able to test my app

Hello Speedster,
I bought the Huawei GT2 just for the purpose of recording my sessions, expecting it would be possible to download/export tracks to a computer in any readable format (gpx, klm, tcx, whatever) since it's advertised as a GPS watch, but as far as I know it doesn't, so the nice watch is only good for time keeping and check your heartbeat. It's the first of the many watches I owned that doesn't offer the possibility to export your tracks in any way. The only think it does is give a screen grab of the track and performance. Quite ridiculous for a device from a brand such as Huawei.
I wonder if the American sanctions against China play a (dirty) role in this.
If anyone has an idea how to get around the issue, please let me know. There is one very complicated solution involving routing your phone and programming in Python with Strava as intermediary platform. Not bothering with that!
If I have a GPS watch to recommend above all the others, it would definitely the Locosys GW-60, which offers the following advantages over the major brands: Doppler GPS, 5 Hz fix rate (all the others do 1 fix/sec), doesn't need to be connected to internet to transfer your track to your computer for further analysis, which is rather nice when you're in a remote island or a Himalayan trek without internet connection.
Cheers
I bought a Huawei band 3 pro. At $70cdn I think it's likely the cheapest brand name GPS smart watch. It works well but with limitations. The app doesn't really work great for surfing. You can see your track but can't get the fun stats.
As far as I can tell you can't download GPS data. Fine for workouts, step tracking, heart beat, sleep tracking, social media notifications.
I am replacing it with a Garmin vivoactive 3, sounds like the Garmin surfapp should work.

I use running, it works for me, i then change it in strava from running to Kitesurfing. It works for me. Whether it’s the best, that’s another matter. But it serves my purposes.

I know, I like Garmin too
. However, those Fenix 5 watches are $500 - I can't afford it just to develop an app

I just got an ambit 3 sport, if you download ambitlink and the movescount software to either PC/Mac you can change any activity profile to kitesurfing. Then pick the data you want to see/record. -->sync to the watch and go.

I'm over 60 sessions on an Apple Watch 4, and so far I've been pretty psyched with the Strava app. More detailed thoughts below:
Cons
* the Apple Watch sports strap will come off, that's how I lost my first watch
* buy a sports "loop" so even if the velcro comes off, it won't slide off your wrist
* the touch screen doesn't work well when wet
Pros
* I like having a cell phone option on my wrist in case I get into a sticky situation
* better life has been good enough for most sessions
* Strava app tracks kiting and other waters sports and standup paddling, etc.
* I mostly use it to track my gps path, heart rates, and then I export at the end of the year to track the number of sessions for the year.
