Naish Hover + Abracadabra Foil reco ?

Postby flysurfing » Tue Feb 18, 2020 5:44 am

Hello Everyone,

I am getting a great deal on this combo :

2018 Naish Hover 138 + 2019 Abracadabra Performance 600 kite foil + 2019 Naish Foil Thrust 90cm aluminum mast.

Has anyone an opinion on this?

Thanks a lot

Nice setup.
I have not ridden the 138. I got the 131 (I think it was) and that was fine to start on. But if the deal is great go for it. The abracadabra system is great. It really makes a lot of sense and saves time. I think the best part is you get to attach the baseplate in a position that doesn't move every time you set it up.
I had the thrust. These days I only ride the surf foil, but this foil is easy to use and pretty easy to get going on. Feels controllable at decent speeds...ie faster than I dare to go. If you are just getting started I would get a short mast as well. It should be compatible regardless of what year, but double check.

If you want to ride relatively fast, jump, and have learned to foil, yes it would probably be just fine.

If you, like most today, want to ride with bigger wings, 800 or 1000 cm2, or even 1200 cm2 for surf, then it is too small IMO, as I believe it is 600 cm2 only, which is a really small wing today.

I dont know the very setup, just a warning about the small wing size that most or all strapless foilers has abandoned fully

On the other hand, if you like to jump, such a wing size is perfect :thumb:

Hi Flysurfing

Did you got the foil? How was it? I am riding the duotone speedster and like it very much, was wondering if the thrust foil would be a little faster given it has smaller area and higher AR.

Best regards
