Once the new IKA Registration is confirmed and will be used for IKA-Races our Race portfolio can be slimed down.
I expect that end of Sommer.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velocity_made_good

It's the speed you are gaining ground upwind or downwind. Or confused with VMC it is the speed you gain in any desired direction. Because many directions require a lot of tacking etc your VMG speed will be much slower than actual speed.

Armin,

Soul and sonic 3 are not going to be registered?
I know those are not intended top performance race kites. But a lot of local events are ruled by the IKA regulations, so you have to have registered kites in order to participate, and many freeracers that could participate in those events for fun wont be able to, as afording a complete quiver of race kites for a couple events a year is just not worth it.

If it's low tier why follow silly rules.

Got to ask that to the Local Sailing authorities...

Yes, the IKA / Worldsailing /Olympic rules force us to not register normal kites.
We tried to change it but without success.

At the moment you only need IKA Registered Kites for World Championship, Continental Championships and Olympic Games.

Sonic 3 is also an amazing race kite especially at sketchy conditions it is one of the best.

Cheers, Armin.

What silly institutions. Kiteboarding should have it's own organization. Why don't the brands consultate and have their own standard. Sure you can still have IKA but have something more kite related too.

Completely agree. But if you want Olympic Games, you don't get around world sailing.
If you don't need olympic material, you are free and don't need to care about it.

BTW: I had a so nice Sonic 3 Hydrofoil session today with fog on a lake :-).

Cheers, Armin

Well for me the Olympics are quite irrelevant. I haven't paid attention to them in like 10 years. I am sure many people are like me. Don't get me wrong it is nice kiting has this recognition, but I remember the antics getting in and all the never ending antics surrounding the games. I mean the whole pro vs amateur bs.

Your session sounds nice. Drone video of that sort of riding would be special. The fog flowing over rider or part of the kite. You should see vortex shedding.
