Slingshot aluminum setup is highly modular and offers great performance (but is heavy to carry and travel with). As of carbon setup - Slingshot was selling MHL Lift, LP and Moses rebranded and these were pretty good models at time. New Slingshot designed and made carbon setup is in works too.

A lot will depend on your weight and riding style - e.g. for heavy rider you want larger wing, for waves you want thicker (slower) wing, for lightwind you want medium-larger wing, for shallow you want shorter mast, for seaweed-infested areas you want more arrowhead-shaped wing, for speed and boosting you want thinner wing. For learning a shorter mast (~24") would help but if you ride deep water you won't use it much after that.
If you travel between deep/shallow spots - get two masts.

i know. so much stuff it is crazy confusing. budget is i want to keep it cheap,, probbaly buy used until i see if it is worth it and then buy something nicer if necessary, would prefer to get something that i could learn on and also keep but that sounds not possible. i am 190 lbs right now. i have 10, 12, 14 rally's, and 15, 18, 21 flysurfer foils kites. mostly on a inland lake with semi rocky shore, 1-3 ft wind waves, wind is 5-25 . no real buddies who foil, no local shops, feel free to give advice.

I've just learned and found it quite easy to progress with the well loved Moses onda 633 wing set which is great to grow in to. Slingshot have the same wing under the ghost whisperer name I think. I used slingshot short masts 40 and 60cm with a moses adapter from Houston kite boarding and a big volume board (slingshot Alienair) which I'm still using along with the moses onda and have now upgraded to carbon 91cm mast.

I'm a big fan of the SS hoverglide system. I learnt on it, progressed with it and still love it. Lots of wing and mast options and bulletproof. Current set up is 90cm mast, apollo 60 wing and custom chopped 14" flat stab. Perfect combo for pocket board and BRM clouds. Highly recommended.

Can you give your thoughts on the Apollo 60 wing?
Low end ride and top speed. How is it compared to the onda wing?

I like it a lot. Not sure of actual numbers, but it lifts early and is quite quick. Well balanced and likes to carve. I read somewhere that is a slightly smaller Moses 633, although I have never ridden (or seen) a Moses foil. Tough as nails, I am constantly hitting bottom and the wing has a lot of carbon around the edges that you can sand to clean up.
