I know, probably the most got it that way it seems, as small as possible.

But as I see absolutely no downsides with a tad bigger board, I always choose the 130 when sub 10 knots, as I can start faster on the kites lower end, and earlier, and in lulls when on the surface I can just keep standing even when board under the water to the knees - a lot harder or not possible with the 118 or smaller boards.

Lots of interesting feedback here.

I went from a LF Galaxy 4'8" (142cm) to a Ketos 130 and had zero issues with the smaller size. The LF did have more float and bounced off the water a bit easier but not enough to be an issue. The 130 definitely feels a bit more responsive and lively. For my riding I don't see any need for the bigger 142. I guess the 12cm jump was not insignificant, I definitely see the benefit of going to the 130 (response, waterstarts, transport). Based on that I'd guess that as Peter says, jumping from 130 to 118 would be a noticeable difference as well.

I'd really like to get a ride on a smaller 110-ish board just to see ... is that too big a jump for me at this point, or not.
I don't feel the need at this point to go 'as small as possible' but am curious as to the benefits. Would it oush me, would my riding improve, or would it slow my progress.

We'll see what the spring season brings!

Well my new board arrived yesterday. Decided to be conservative and went with the 118.
We'll see how it compares. If very close my 130 may be for sale

I just had my first ride on the 118 and WaveXL.. came from a 150 board.. big step.. but what a kit! Stoked!

Nice Janus - I was also out on that setup yesterday here, 118 Pocket / WaveXL / 92 cm mast / small stab, it is getting warmer, water around 7 degrees now

And as the sun finally was up at my homebreak yesterday, out with a 5 m2 kite enjoying it with my buddy who was wingfoiling
