Prof. Wodarg may have a point but it's not the relevant level of analysis at the moment; here in the Netherlands the rate of people in the ICU is climbing exponentially. 96 the day before yesterday. 171 today. The same as Italy a few weeks ago.
A lot of middle-aged people who got infected during carnaval at the end of February have also ended up with respiratory failure. Statistically the chances aren't that high but with such large numbers of infected people it adds up.
On topic: in the Netherlands we are not in lock down, beaches are open and a lot of people come there to walk. And to surf. I was out today as well. Being careful as always but especially now.
I'm a medical doctor myself and although not working with infectious diseases directly the repercussions are everywhere, also in my work.
A lot of doctors surf and we are happy that we can spend some time on the water to unwind.
Keep safe everyone!

Has there been any/much talk about the effects of the virus getting in to lungs? My brother’s friend is a doctor and she said that the virus scar tissues the lungs which typically ends up destroying 30% of lung capacity permanently, and if you catch pneumonia afterwards, it’s by bye
This is more alarming than the death rate itself
