I guess post-Covid19 1423 beds should about cover the need in Spain generated by tourists.
Seems like an absurd place to build a hotel(s)? Sunbathing in 27 knots? Lovely. Take a swim? Freezing water. Lovely.

Sounds like money talks -
1,423 hotel beds and 350 homes in this area of high ecological value included in the Red 2000, classified as a Biosphere Reserve by Unesco and which borders with the natural parks of the Strait and Los Alcornocales
I thought there was a total restriction on beach front development & the other side of the road was protected by being Natural Parkland - I would guess this relates to redevelopment or expansion of an existing site or maybe the car park?
Clearly they want more hotels (
https://www.hispalense.com/en/interviu.html) - but wonder how many will go out of business in 2020?

Having been to Tarifa in the midst of the summer, i must say that mayor is right about the need for more hotel rooms. Sadly as posted above many will have to shutdown this year.

General turism.
In the high season Spanish tourist from Sevilla, Madrid etc come down and Tarifa is full..
Kite turism is more year round but sees a dip in the high season due to kiting restrictions, full beaches and crowdedness..

Ok. But they are there because the village is nice or do they occupy the beach all the way up to Valdevaqueros?
