Any Cquad foiling?

Yep, unrelenting power, terrible upwind, fall out of the sky if you slack line them. Can't say i'm a fan. But really the basis if what all inflatables are modelled on. Just replace the carbon spars for inflatable tubes.

On YouTube there used to be an inspiring video of talented guys using C-quads on land, it was called "Knobs on string". I would love to see that one again, but I just can not find the original anymore…

Bar: I actually had the Cquad with the official bar. You had to rotate it as it had a wierd shape to it. Not a straight bar for sure.

Time certainly let’s you forget how bad the stuff was back then. I always think the Cquad will make a rebirth in Bruno’s new high pressure kites. Let’s wait.

terrible upwind

As I know U R a long time all around kiter, I am suprised U feel this way?
At the time, long ago, might still be, nothing would go upwind better than a tuned CQUAD on handles in skilled pilot hands.
I raced buggys with CQUADS and against with many other types a well, but this well before modern depower RAM airs.
The kites penetration is amazing with power, again if piloted correctly.
Kane Hartil, NZ, was the first I ever saw land a double front kite boarding with CQUADS, no harness, handles, back strap seat belt style, no release system.
Like a LLLLLOOONNNNGGGGGG time ago.
I had not considered the "high pressure" tube application possibilities with said design...mmmm
If one could get normal bar depower bridal and mixer and at least a hint of water relaunch, super high pressure LE and STRUTS....maybe...

The Cquad may have been an upwind demon in the day. But compared to lei's and race foils in the last 8 years they cquad is wofully terrible upwind. I have kitebuggy raced guys who have been flying C-Quads since before kitesurfing was invented. They are excellent pilots. Possible the the best in the world at flying CQuads. They dont stand a chance!

Every year I go to the worlds oldest kite buggy event called the moose meet. The top NZ buggiers are there and we camp in the remote sand dunes and kite buggy for 5 days. It's freaken awesome. There's pretty much every type of buggy traction kite represented from C-Quad, fixed bridle race kite, arc, open and close cell foils, single skins, leis. Its a realy interested display of kite evolution over the years.

In the C-Quads defense, they are curiously effective in super light winds. Out of all the kite in the line up, a monster C-quad can start in sparrows fart of wind when all the rest of us a standing there trying to get our flash modern kites in the air.... Roy is out there tootling round on his C-Quad......

Ronnie, I believe you have posted in the wrong thread, showing a wingfoiler?
Or is your point, at which you would be correct, that as even a really inefficient thing like a wing goes more than sufficiently upwind, and as kitefoil for the majority is not about racing and goes high upwind anyways, it does not matter, and the C Quads might have other advantages which we can benefit from, just like the small Peak4 kites?
