Downwind sorry (english not native).
Really simple... you arrive fackie (toeside like after a jibe without footchange) then slowdown kite high , bent your leg to grab the board by the upwing rail, then let you pull out by the kite, in front of you, keeping the hand on the foil board to pull it downwind with you toward the kite.

Those who had foot injuries this way, could not surf for weeks !!!

And Dave have had issues for half a year now, because of a broken foot

So it is all about more time on the water, and got nothing to do with safety

Do you not think I don't understand the risks? Sorry my frustration isn't necessarily focused only on you, more on the cultural change where people think they need to nanny everyone for the sake of "safety" and the need to give safety warnings/advice. How ever I want to dismount is my choice. What you may deem is an unreasonable risk is your own personal safety minimum and has nothing to do with mine. So please, leave your safety advice to yourself.

It IS a common major point apparently, for many, how to step off, and sharing makes sense now it seems, as more injuries than I was aware of.

Depends on location ie. What’s downwind and what’s in the water.

Usually just boost off the board at home, as the water is deep though near the shore line. Same at the beach, far enough out that I can get to the board before it grounds.

At the harbor, it’s a rock wall and concrete ramp but deep water so I try to step off and grab the board, which ends up like a messy body drag.

Estuary is shallow and shelly mud so it’s a bum splash down there and grab the board quickly.

I often stop at a safe distance where it's deep enough, then body drag with one hand on the board while it's on its side and one hand kitelooping once to each side. This way waves don't catch me as it's fast

I usually do a big jump off (7-9m) and land on the beach OR, if too crowded, do barefoot slide..
Looks pretty good to beach crowds..
not catching the foil.. it almost never gets any dings in sand..

I learned, recently, to come in toeside slowly, up high, and just fall over. Board doesn't shoot upwind, less splash of cold water, and better control.
