man im loving all the conversation and opinions!! even Toby came to the discussion!it was not my intention to seem conflicted but just wanting to hear different opinions on how the equpment choosing came to influence your riding experience. For me the hydrofoil has simply opened up a complete new paradigm. its been fun and it has sparked my imagination on what its possible! i guess it has impacted my riding the most!

I think it depends on the discipline.I consider it a board sport , the kite is just a pulling device.I can get behind the wake boat, go to the cable park or use a kite, all means to an end. Each has its differences, kiting the easiest due to angle of kite helping for more airtime to complete moves, followed by the cable then the boat.
Most def.

All about the board!

Wind driven board sport. Best thing ever

My kite choice is 100% dictated by board choice.

Board choice is based on conditions.

It's a kite sport. I kiteboard with a twintip I hydrofoil with my foil I kitesurf with my surfboard I use my mountain board to land kite I have an iceboard to ice kite I have skis and a snowboard to snow kite and also a skateboard to kite in the parking lot.

The kite is what makes this sport. A twintip just just a tiny tiny tiny part of all the possible ways to go kiting. There's some episodes of "Will it kite?" where guys go try kiting with different stuff. The board makes it spicy, but the kite is what you need.

Board sport. You are riding a board, not a kite. The kite is just a means of propulsion, just as a boat, wave, sail, wing, electric motor, hill (gravity), etc. is.

Why do we always need to compare with other sports?

Simple call it KITE BOARDing.

Best of both worlds 👍🏻

It is both.

I know what it isn't... sailing :-0
It is sailing. :jump:

Foiling has actually taken it back closer to its sailing genesis. Having said that, free ride cruising on a foil or on a board is very different from kiting with a SB in waves or on a TT going for big air or freestyle tricks. The kite is the essential component though for all those variations & kite control is the most important skill. Consider freestyle, which remains probably the most demanding kiting discipline. Mastering difficult tricks is 90% about learning to control the power of the kite through the maneuver.

Really No definitions needed but is nice to know what you all think!! with kite foiling the board is the control portion and the foil is the contact surface for most of part. at the moment am I kitehydrofoilboarding ?
i guess im in much need of any tipe of kitting and a beer thats for sure!!!

I agree that freestyle is the most demanding, but not that it is 90% kite, I would have said much less

80%? Even most of the board control things are mostly dependent on kite control.
