mybaggage.com - anyone tried this service already?

Just saw this...looks interesting.

Prices are not cheap...but if you have the money or no other chance to take it with you, it looks like an alternative.

Unfortunately Brazil wasn't on the list from Germany...but many other countries around the world.

I haven’t tried them. I used U.S. Postal service once for a board and it worked for about $45. I found out you can ship to one of their post offices and they would hold it for 3 or 4 days so you could pick it up, but I ended shipping it to a local kitesurfing shop.

I used them to ship from Portugal to U.S. I very carefully measured everything and after they had shipped it they tried to bill me because the box was bigger than I had said. They wanted double the amount I had paid and were going to take it from the credit card that I had originally used for payment. When I asked them for proof they suddenly couldn't find the paperwork. I would burn my things before using these thieves.

Thx for the info...that’s sounds really bad.

But don’t they take the measurements when you drop it off or they pick it up ?

No they are a contract outfit. They contract with a local delivery service which in turn takes it to Fedex or UPS or some other carrier. They get a commercial rate while poor schmoes like us pay full freight. It is just some guy in a van or a bike who picks it up from your house or hotel. They don't have an office where you drop it off.

When they tried to pull this on me I already had the box so I knew my dimensions were accurate. I am guessing that they do this frequently and if anyone fights them they blame it on the final shipper and magnanimously eat the cost to keep "good will." I also immediately contacted my credit card company so they couldn't just take the money without fighting for it. This may have had something to do with them "loosing" the paper work.

No I have not. One of our locals did just ship some gear to Hood River. After it got there they doubled the original price on him. Not sure if used this service.

I did get a surf shop ship a board from Maui back to Texas for me thru FedEx. Cost me $100 and there was no damage to the board. Better price than the airlines and no damage. I'll be trying that from now on.
