Grafted invisible foilboard for insta360 one R.
First footage:
...
my experience with insta 360 one R:
-ok in winter snowkite & snowboarding
-so far ok with kitesurfing. No water related problems
-sound quality could be better but supports bluetooth mic
-editing ok with app
-editing with insta studio in mac-ok, some minor challengies
-360 editing with davinci resolve not supported, win should be ok.
Would I buy it again?
-have had multiple gopro’s and been very frustrated to lack of development in cam SW & PC&cloud based free services. Insta seems to develop fast, there’s been great progress announcing new FW versions. Now there’s also first aluminium case in the markets, creating more trust to try different mounting options when kiting/in waters.
Yep, would buy it again, but just 360version. Have not been using 4k lens as have my old gopro5 for basic footage. Hope to see some 8Mpix cheap enough 360 CE devices in the future - until that, I’m happy with my new toy.
If you just need the 360 module wouldn't the 360 X be a good alternative? I see it works with the invisible selfie stick. Doesn't it have auto leveling?
It's an older model which I see on sale more often
Hi, maybe so.
But do like one r form factor better for action sport, and also out of the box waterproofness and maybe also more modern chipset inside? Have it already, no regrets buying it.
Hi, do you use it with a diving waterproof case or without it just as is? I bought the dive case and it really sucks as the case blocks half of the view at the bottom and I worry to take it out into the water without waterproof case as it says, for action impact sports needs to have case? Did you hit the water while camera was on? What is the your experience on waterproofness without protection case?
Hey, I bought the camera and the mount you suggested. I also bought a dive case for 360 module. And the dive case, really sucks and completely blocks me on that mount (k4-harness-mount).
How do you use the camera on that mount? No dive case? And without dive, can water damage it? instructions say, for any action sport, must have a dive case.. not sure if safe to take into water without it.
I have received my one R only two days before the lock down in Spain has started, so I was only able to make some clips while walking until now. The quality is excellent and the assembling was no problem until now. The only problem I had was the sound, but after the last firmware update it´s solved. I hope the very strict lock down in Spain will come to an end next Saturday and we can go out to test it in real watersport conditions.
Hi, I used the Insta 360 One R without the dive case with the 4 K harness Mount. After the first kite session the camera was dead, no way to turn It on or even to charge It. Luckily I had It replaced and I bought a Dive Case for the 360 Mod and a vertical battery...what a mistake! The dive case base is visible even If I reframe the video so, I can only shot front or rear videos loosing all the magic of the invisible stick of the 4 K harness Mount. I'm so sad because the 360 video quality is excellent. So by now I will use my Insta on the kite lines but not in water anymore.

I used my second one in the water without a case for some time now and it's fine. What I did find however is that the rubber retainer holding Cover for the USB compartment can get caught under the seal of the cover. This will let water in. I cut that off now to prevent that from happening.
