Very little reduction in feel. It will still hurt if you stand on something sharp but you probably won't puncture the skin. They do get hot if you stand still too long on hot sand though as the black heats up like crazy but not a problem on the water.

1+ for solite. I dont agree with 5 finger vibram. Im barefoot aficionado but they doesnt work for me. Merel vapor glow are better than 5 fingers on land and on water too. Solite works better than either of them. Buy size smaller and heat mold on your feet.

i am also looking for a low profile surf shoe, but one that doesnt wear out so fast. my oneil heats wear through in one season easy. i have considering re-souling them with some sort of dip rubber.

All of my surf booties wear out in one season. And i use 6-7mm in winter, 5mm in spring / fall and 3mm in summer. I might get 2 seasons out of the summer 3mm because it's short season. Both the outsole and inner sole get really thin and wear through or get splits.
I do 100 sessions a year and about 150 hours. So I'm really not happy about durability.

I bought some zhik low shoes and they have good sole, but the sizes are so small, I ordered in my size, way too small, returned to get 1 size up, and still the big toe pocket is too short and jams my big toe. Painful! Dissatisfied. Otherwise seem like good construction and would last 3x longer...was thinking of putting in boiling water and stretching it...

Now ordered Solite low booties. Hoping they will be durable and fit. If so I'll order winter ones too.
