Armstrong vs Axis

For me it was Armstrong vs Moses.
Ultimately went Armstrong. Was only a bit more money.
Buy it in the kits and you get covers for wings and mast.
And you get full carbon, and hopefully the strongest carbon foil available.

I've been riding the Armie 1200 and 800 on 85cm mast. Very surfy compared to the Moses I was riding previously. Can't go wrong with this set up for kite foiling.

For Winging and SUPing, using the Axis surf series. The mast is aluminum which i believe is a benefit for Winging/SUPing for foiling. Can't comment on the Axis Kitefoiling . I believe they have a Carbon mast too.

As mentioned I'm riding a Ke Nalu 580 (1084 cm2 AR 3.33) and enjoy it. The foil also came with 775 wing (1494cm2 AR 4.14). While I assumed the larger wing would hold me slower through a turn, thus allowing my motor response time to fire, not so. Hard to describe the difference other then it didn't feel any steadier. Even less so. The Armie 1200 seems to fall in the middle though I don't recall it's AR. I understand it won't have me suddenly progress. And working with what I have now is a $ saver. Yet I like the non-obsolete design of the Armstrong. And as I slooooowly progress being able to add different wings has appeal. FYI while researching the #s I see Ke Nalu is having a sale.

Axis aluminum mast gives it more a direct feel from feet to foil. Just my observation.

Metal is stiffer and Axis is the stiff'est which keeps from wobble effect while you sup. Also wobble causes loss of power in the foil.

Wouldn't that more direct feel and wobble reduction be a benefit for kitefoiling too? I imagine the answer is "it comes down to your personal preference," but I had to ask.

i was on aluminum masts before going to Armstrong. there is no sense of wobble or indirect feel on their carbon masts compared to the other metal masts. no, i haven't tried Axis. But a local who was using Axis on his wing setup recently switched to a carbon mast, so i really don't think it's anything other than personal preference.

I've seen a popular brand on the beach, board upside down, and the wings wobbling noticeably just in the wind. I can't imagine how that would be better, but I'm told it is. I don't even like long versions of my same mast...

Has anyone tried the Axis carbon masts for winding ? Strong enough for that stuff ?

It would be great if Axis releases a carbon fuselage one day to complete the 100% carbon setup.
