First Session: Groove G-Fuerte Wingboard

Postby gmb13 » Sun Jul 19, 2020 11:21 pm

Had my first session on the wingboard I collaborated on with Michele Pezzato from Groove boards.

Lot's of proper full tacks, gybes. 360s and other fun manuvers.

Enjoy the show :-)

Watched it a few more times. At 2:40 when you do a toeside to heelside tack coming towards the camera, it is hard for me to tell exactly when you bring the wing overhead and to the other side but it seems like you do it well before carving upwind. It that correct? Any key pointers for this move? Thanks

Nice! But you need to give us the spec’s on the board. Length, width, thickness, volume, weight, construction, price....

6kg for 85 litre board is on the heavy side. My production Rocket wing 5'4'' (75l) weighs 5kg and I wish it could be lighter.

I think this is a very relative thing.

Yes, the lighter the better when riding, but the boards are still so light compared to their size, that they become more and more fragile both in terms of mast connection and deck (cracks), which is not something all of us want.

I sometimes run aground on the sandsbanks, when playing around in the waves, so for me they need to be able to take some beating.

I dont like too heavy no, but superlight is not for me either, just sufficiently light, which it seems the Groove is.

Nope. That is not the Board. The board I am riding is a new board I designed together with Groove. It's called the G-Fuerte 70. Groove will release specs on it soon.

The board weighs 4.8kg 5'0" X 23" .

Sounds really nice.

I’m on a 90l, 5’1”x 26” (5.6 kg) FoilSurfMachine board that Dwight Fischer shapes down in FL. Full Inegra construction with carbon reinforcement around the mast base and deck. Absolutely love it.

I’m ~77 kg. Thought about downsizing to around 70l but I’m just not in a rush to do so, plus there is no way I’d give up the 90l board for those days where you just want the extra security/ease. I think we are in a bit of “low volume board” craze right now with winging (your not really good unless you’re water starting a 30l board, or at least knee starting something 10l under your body weight). Guess we’ll see how it plays out.

On proper Wingboards like the G-Fuerte that are designed for Winging, with more flat area and without step tails in the back you can go down about 15L to 20L compared to the SUPfoil boards and still get the same stability and low wind performance. The Future is looking bright.
