Just for info
I found the 9mtr soul has reinforcement round patches at the bridle attachment points at the high stress points, check at the attachment points near to the velcro air vents, nice reinforcements missing on my buddies 10mtr soul, he was impressed and took his 10mtr soul to a paraglider center and had them modify his 10mtr to match the 9mtr,
I checked my ozone foils and was pleased to see these reinforcements in place, never noticed them before.

That doesn't surprise me since 7/9m are an addition to the orginal run on the Souls. Id call those two the Soul 1.5s. Love to get some pics of the attachment points.

I have similar dilemma but for TT and I'm leaning towards 9m to join my 15m. I would be always traveling with these two anyway but if had to chose one kite for travel it would be 10m soul.

A 9m and 15m will give you a massive range and the benefit of a more lively kite in the higher winds. But I agree, a 10m Soul is a great one kite quiver. If you have a foilboard, I think the 9m comes pretty close though. It just depends if you are chasing super light winds or not. I am no featherweight (just the wrong side of 90kg) but was very impressed by the 9m in very light winds yesterday. I reckon that kite will cover me from around 8/9kts on the foilboard to 30kts on the Voke. Probably a bit more on a twin tip. That basically covers 95% of the wind that I ever go out in so it is basically a one kite quiver.

But...... I would still rather it is 12kts and the Peaks come out on the foilboard :-)

What sort of wind speeds do you guys feel comfortable in launching your 9m & 10m Souls?
Do you have an upper limit before you decide that it’s too windy to launch safely?

for sure I would get out my phone to film anyone launching a 9mtr soul in 30 knts of wind, that's over 35mph, the soul is not weak in the grunt department,
I would keep one eye closed though, as I dislike horror films,
blimey it was less than that at rossy a few days ago and guys on Ttips were complaining of being overpowered on 9mtr lei kites, and they are easy peasy to handle.

To be fair, I have always had smaller kites and will generally go for the smallest I can but I do believe that kites like the soul cover a much bigger range than LEIs. I have used the 10m when people are over powered on 9 LEIs so would be confident flying the 9m soul in solid 8m LEI territory. I would be pretty focused on bridle checks pre launch but am sure it will be fine in the air. I think of the souls as having at least two sizes up in power v LEIs but also 1 or 2 sizes down. My 10m was comfortable through 8-12m LEI territory.

I never, ever needed any depower trim on my 6m and used that in some big winds (windsurfers super powered on 3.2m sails).

You are right though - 30kts can be feisty in cold, lumpy wind and I would rather go smaller unless I wanted a big boosting session.

I had landed my 15m soul in 25kts so can’t see issue lunching 9m in same condition. In higher wind I would probably inflate kite more but again less air it has less pull is generates going up.
Never flown such a small foil kites so maybe I’m ignorant to any issues.
Can image that packing kite would end up in mess
