Using A Bicycle To Go To Beach With Hydrofoil

I tow my foil setup on a burley trailer behind an ebike, and it's faster to get to the beach than sitting in traffic in a car in peak hour. The ebike makes the 8km ride each way enjoyable, even in a 30 knot headwind.

I built a covered trailer with aluminum composite panels that the guy cut to size at the shop, on a timber frame, which is lockable.

I used a similar scooter a number of times to get to the beach when the wife needed a car.
The board , mast, fuse, wings go to a surf bag over shoulder.I can squeeze in a foil kite and a bar in the bag too, but usually prefer a kite bag..
put harness on and go.. 3-4 miles is not a problem

I have quite the same experience here. Scooter is also suitable with backpacks because you´re standing and your back is straight.

It's 1.1m long to fit my 1m pocket board and mast, 60cm wide to fit my foil wing, with ample room for wetsuit, peaks, etc. Weighs about 30kg all up with gear in it. The trailer is a Burley flat bed. The panels are ACM, which is thin aluminum bonded to a polyethylelene - stiff, strong and not too heavy. I used a non toxic industrial adhesive to bond the panels to the wooden frame, Bostik Simson ISR 70-03. It's very useful glue, flexible like a sealant but it bonds really strong, no solvent vapour.

Thanks. Having a good setup with the ebike makes it simple and fun by bike. I appreciate the additional exercise of riding. Driving the car to the beach seems like a chore now. There's something incredibly satisfying about riding home after a nice foil session, with the wind blowing through your damp hair, and no fossil fuel pollution generated in the process.

Yes, always take my foil apart after a session.
It would be easy to make a mount for the trailer to hold an assembled foil board on top, but I wanted to be able to lock my gear inside, and usually disassembled it for the car anyway.
