Go to the beach and put on a backpack with another 30kg in it and get back to us. Smaller guys just don't get it :(
Hmmm... in this case my point was, to explain that even with 75kg a 17m makes sense.

The original question was: which kite for 100 kg in winds from 7-22 knots.

My answer: as big as possible. And for the Strong days a 12m.
Original question was about having "fun" as a tall heavy guy.

17m makes sense with 75kg riders because it works as advertised in low wind. It won't when you're over the designed weight range by about 50%. It simply won't "turn on" until the wind picks up, so there's no massive gain in bottom end like there is for "average" riders.

Imagine that the bottom ends are all compressed and the top end dragged out ... to infinity, if you're Toby.

I've had the biggest kites and the biggest twin tips -- nothing "fun" is happening until 15 knots. Depends on your definition of fun, but I don't think it ever includes slogging back and forth, working the kite, running aground then walking back up the beach...?

This.

Are you able to fly the kite and possibly go back and forth with a big board? Technically, yes. Boring as f***, but yes. Unless you're a learner, below 15kn is simply not fun at 100kg.

Learner/Intermediate 100kg: 17/18/19m LEI and a giant ass board and mow the lawn in 11kn. Overpowered at 16kn. Switch to a normal board. Fun times begin.
Intermediate/Advanced 100kg: 15m LEI with a normal sized board is mowing the lawn at 14kn. Powered at 17kn. Fun times begin.

I had a light wind set (17m and a giant board) and loved the fact that it got me on the water, but ended up ditching it because that's all it did. I don't go out unless it's says 17kn.

I cannot support the info that a big kite has a range of only 4 knots
So depending on your level you can get a 10 knots
Yes
I get 11 knots range
From 9kn to 20kn
Not heavy
75kg
Experienced with large sizes
5 struts
Size 17m
Not twin tip
Strapped 5'2" x 21" quad
