Yep. I remember the day I first got a Dynabar and went out on the surfboard and was like, this is too easypapasmerf wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 4:02 amupdate,,,, put on my dyna j bar onto my seat harness,,, put up a 12m instead of my 10,, and switched kites from the north rebel i was using to my old rally that i finally fixed,,,and it was night and day difference, i was doing "my strong side" heel to toe turns and then cruising out and then doing toe to heel turns back,,, kind of a figure big figure 8 basically,,,,,all on the foil,,,,was trying different speeds and exit angles.
the only thing is is that going toeside,, i tend to "yaw" back and forth as my legs get a little fatigued. and i feel like i am angled, body and board wise, into the wind,,, where as heelside, i feel like i can almost stand up straight.
plus, my rear foot,, the toes/ball portion,, seems to be doing most of the work
Local racers all use fixed as far as I can tell, but I've never seen them ride toe side.airsail wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 11:41 amSeems people tend to dislike a fixed hook when riding toeside, but as someone who constantly switches, I find the fixed hook fine. I have tried a sliding attachment but it screwed up my tack timing so I changed back. I rarely ride toeside except when swell riding and then the kite is in front of you and the pull is fairly square to your hips and when getting back upwind it is always on heel side as toeside angles are crap.
What do racers use? Fixed or sliding.
Weirdo, quite likely, but happy with thatKamikuza wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 12:14 pmLocal racers all use fixed as far as I can tell, but I've never seen them ride toe side.airsail wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 11:41 amSeems people tend to dislike a fixed hook when riding toeside, but as someone who constantly switches, I find the fixed hook fine. Which seat harness will fit to the stealth bar?taiguy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2020 4:15 pmI use the mystic stealth bar with surf rope, it's been great for foiling as the heavy padding and integrated bar (screwed to the pad, not floating) means there's no rotation of the bar into my ribs. I've been using it with a hardshell majestic x harness but may try it with the foil seat harness later.

But maybe the disadvantages of a fixed hook on toeside turn into advantages heelside with the leverage of the hook providing additional pressure to drive the foil upwind.
I have noted that when heading upwind toeside, then switching to heelside my angle improves a lot.
I can see a slider would really help those who either can’t or aren’t strong riding heelside on both tacks.
