Currently you need a document from your health insurance that you are covered for Covid infection with minimum 30.000 Reais.
The amount of 30.000 needs to be stated on the document, or that the insurance will cover you 100%.
Without a document they won't let you enter the plane.

Is that to cover funeral expenses?

That will just hurt the economy which is already fragile.

It hurts more if no foreigners can come like before August...
All workers wear masks, and there is a general mask mandatory for everyone but on the small towns along the beaches most don't wear them and just keep distance.
For sure in the favelas the virus spreads and many more are infected than officially confirmed.
Like the slums in India where they tested and 35% had it already...
But those country will be more immune like the European countries in the near future.
Plus, daily wind, water 30 °C.
Still paradise

Where does it state that people will become immune once they have had covid? To my mind, it's very low % who become immune, hence mass infection/immunity won't be a solution?!?

2 weeks from now I should have been on a plane to Brazil.
Can't bother with the hassle and uncertainty now. This is just another example of why unfortunately.

Please keep in mind that this statement is pure speculation and not confirmed by any known science or medical evidence. It seems like an intuitively true thing to say, but please be cautious repeating this statement because it isn't verified with medical evidence or cases specific to COVID. It's entirely possible that exposure to COVID does not trigger a durable immune reaction and that this disease is bad for everyone every time they catch it. That's true with many other diseases, not all pathogens generate a durable and safe herd immunity in humans given sufficient time...some just continue to kill us no matter what.

It is a coronavirus. genetic drift and mutations will inevitably make it more common and more innocuous over time, especially in Brazil, where the infection rate is higher.
Weakening of the virus AND herd immunity will end the virus panic.
Except for some individuals who have a panic disorder.
And politicians - they will probably never get better.
The virus may stick around but the hype and (increasingly rare) fatalities will fade.
