Could argue that green is the official color for the starboard side in sailing... so it seems like they are the first brand who managed to get that side of the bar right in 15 years

Been listening to this silliness for many years. The red/green is for buoys and other boats so you know where you are and going. No one looks at the colors on their own boat, ever.

Anybody have hands on experience with both the 2020 and 2021 Navigator bars? Is 2021 materially improved in any sense? Im determining which of these to pick up. The 2020 bar is slightly discounted and want to figure out if its worth it. I know there were some recalls on the original 2020 bar, so that's factoring into my decision here too.
The much-discussed coloring on the 2021 bar doesn't bother me. Seems like something that I will get used to and won't ever think about after the first two sessions.

I have no experience with the 2021 bar, but I have ridden the 2020 bar 5 times a week from June until now and it has been amazing. Love the simplicity of it, the lines, and the safety has been good the couple times I have needed it. The grip is maybe a little harder than I would like, but potentially less durable if it was softer. The unique grip angle is nice and the easily swapped pigtails on the lines have been handy.

I'd go for the 2021 model, the pull tabs on the line winder bungees of the 2020 bar are the most annoying thing ever. I don't even know how this made it through testing.

I can't agree with you. Red and green have been always indicator of sailing direction and also mandatory by aviation regulations in wing lights.
All sailig boats have red/green wind-tells for example located on the left and right sides of the sail. So yes, maybe North is the first company to put the green color in the right position...

Personally I don't care which colour is where (I am almost colour blind so green can easily be red for me), but if you are going to use a colour system it makes sense to make it obvious/contrasting. That kind of green and that stripe of red I highly doubt will be obvious to locate as you are trying to figure out which side is right/left in a millisecond.
And I agree on the floaters. Why not extend the colour scheme to the floaters?
