i admit i haven't read all the 140+ pages of this thread, so maybe this has already been answered. But the 30 or so pages I have read seem to indicate this kite in a 13M isn't a good light wind kite. I guess i don't understand why it wouldn't be given it's lightness. I'm looking into getting a foiling kite for really light winds, but I'm around 200 lbs so a smaller kite won't cut it. my 12M Ozone Alpha keeps me on shore if it's under 12 mph on average. so...is a 13m Peak not really a good answer for me?

Watch my vid a page or two back about the 13m. I think it’s a great light wind option, I was able to get up easily in 4-6kts on a 100cm short board, Moses 633, and I’m 85kgs. I think the hate for the larger sizes is they’re slower and the drift isn’t as good but when you are flying in that low of wind speeds, you’re only mowing the grass anyhow.

Hi, where you able to go upwind in your foil with the 13?
In that really low wind?

I used the 8 metre today and the local wind meter said 8 to 10 knots. I also have the 11 and it is significantly more powerful. I use a 1500 cm. surf foil. I weigh about 175 lbs. The power Spike when diving the kite is significantly less than my closed-cell foil kites. But I find the Peak 4 generally more fun to ride any easier to gybe.

Not sure Peaks are much different from other small foils or 0/1strut kites.
The key difference for me (5m kite, 90kg rider) is that they have a smaller power spike than regular foils and leis. Just enough to make me nervous about getting up at the low end. I found that adding just a few more meters of kite line worked for me.

Hey Guys,
I bought recently a North bar and it has 12+10 meters. I was wondering what should happen to my Peak4 8m² if I use a 12meter line. Should I have more top end?
Hi LeoLeal,
short lines are alway a lot about personal preference you may just find out by trying it yourself. In my eyes it just comes to a limit if the kite is no more able to do a more or less clean powerful loop. With 12 m on the 8 m² this shouldn't be a problem yet. If I would have an 8 m² pretty sure I would ride it with about 12 m, as I go with the 5 m² on 8,5 m and with the 3 m² also on 12 m, as it is already fast enough, isn't it  .

Love to ride the Peaks that more compact way, maybe as it is also closer to winging and as the Peak can't do jumps more than a quick flip anyway, so you also don't loose anything here.

For sure if you drop it to often on short lines. better go longer, but didn't had that problem with my 5 m². And if you are heavy pushing the range closer to top end with shorter lines could also be a limiting factor, as Peaks don't like high load and will then start to colapse when depowered, especially when the bridles has been shrinking, already correted my 5 m² a bit to go more into the high end.

Horst Sergio, how did you correct the shrinking bridles?

I’m 200lbs and recently just picked up a 13m Peak 4. I love it ! I’ve only had 1 light session but I was having a ball in around 8 knots with easy water starts and good upwind performance.

I find it easier in every way than the Soul 15 I sold to buy it. It suits me better as I ride strapless and don’t boost.

I have the Peak 13 and I can foil from 6 knots on a big wing, but need 7 knots to go upwind (82 kg). As others already said, I also prefer it over the Soul. For me the Soul is terrible for a beginner on a foil, especially strapless. Totally reluctant to turn, no constant power delivery, power comes with too much delay, and then it comes with as such a spike that it pulls me off. On TT the Soul is grand.

Recently I have managed to water start the Peak 13, but only in gusts above 11 knots, when I usually take smaller kites. Otherwise I have relaunched two times - lucky me - never lost tension on the lines. - Tom
