Watch my vid a page or two back about the 13m. I think it’s a great light wind option, I was able to get up easily in 4-6kts on a 100cm short board, Moses 633, and I’m 85kgs. I think the hate for the larger sizes is they’re slower and the drift isn’t as good but when you are flying in that low of wind speeds, you’re only mowing the grass anyhow.jkrug wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 11:41 pmi admit i haven't read all the 140+ pages of this thread, so maybe this has already been answered. But the 30 or so pages I have read seem to indicate this kite in a 13M isn't a good light wind kite. I guess i don't understand why it wouldn't be given it's lightness. I'm looking into getting a foiling kite for really light winds, but I'm around 200 lbs so a smaller kite won't cut it. my 12M Ozone Alpha keeps me on shore if it's under 12 mph on average. so...is a 13m Peak not really a good answer for me?
The key difference for me (5m kite, 90kg rider) is that they have a smaller power spike than regular foils and leis. Just enough to make me nervous about getting up at the low end. I found that adding just a few more meters of kite line worked for me.jumptheshark wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 2:30 pmNot sure Peaks are much different from other small foils or 0/1strut kites.
Hi LeoLeal,
I’m 200lbs and recently just picked up a 13m Peak 4. I love it ! I’ve only had 1 light session but I was having a ball in around 8 knots with easy water starts and good upwind performance.jkrug wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 11:41 pmi admit i haven't read all the 140+ pages of this thread, so maybe this has already been answered. I have the Peak 13 and I can foil from 6 knots on a big wing, but need 7 knots to go upwind (82 kg). As others already said, I also prefer it over the Soul. For me the Soul is terrible for a beginner on a foil, especially strapless. Totally reluctant to turn, no constant power delivery, power comes with too much delay, and then it comes with as such a spike that it pulls me off. On TT the Soul is grand.jkrug wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 11:41 pmi admit i haven't read all the 140+ pages of this thread, so maybe this has already been answered.
