Boxer Water Re-Launch?

Is it just me? What's up with this 2020 Boxer 8m? I've been kiting for 12 years, now all foiling, mostly Clouds. Maybe I got lazy and spoiled with the simple water re-launch with Clouds, but I've now swam home 4 times in a month with my newly purchased Naish Boxer 2020 8m. It's the main reason why I'm leaving this fun kite in the trunk.
A friend told me to pull a steering line and the opposing front line simultaneously? I've tried reverse launching (which works good on Clouds) but the Boxer would not get up there and felt heavy by comparison. Oh... and with all my failed attempts I had ditched the board.... maybe I should straddle my foil board for more drag?

I have a 2019 Boxer which is virtually identical to the 2020 model (they just changed the octopus one-pump system to standard one-pump)

I was amazed at how easily the Boxer relaunch even in very light winds.

So I'm quite surprised to hear something different.

Are you doing anything I should know? Is simply pulling a steering line not enough?

Disclaimer: In all honesty I'm pushing this 8m into no-whitecap light-wind foiling on a large wing. Maybe I'm asking too much.

+1 on easy relaunch for the Boxer. We just pull one rear line until it rolls up. Never had to do opposing front and rear lines. I would definitely retrieve the board and sit on it before doing any kite manipulation. Mostly to keep it from sailing away or running down to foul with the kite.

Do you maybe pump the kite too hard for light wind? I don't have them but I made the mistake of pumping kites too hard and then they didn't bend well. My light wind relaunch isn't the best either I try to pull the middle lines and one outer while doing big strokes with my legs for extra resistance.

Yes, very possible. I'm pushing this 8m Boxer down into the 10mph and less winds while riding a large 633-like foil wing on a strapless pocket board. Maybe I should have a beer instead.

Huh? Never in life have I heard of a theory of less LE pressure = better water relaunch. Kinda makes some sense. I guess. I always pump all my kite to near risky 12psi.

To support your theory I can attest that when I pull one steering line the Boxer gets over to one edge, then rolls proper a bit, then stops. It's like maybe if it could bend it might present itself to the edge wind better.

I have the 9m and 7m 2018 and 5m 2020 it's one of the easiest relaunching kite I have seen it just rolls onto it's side and it's ready to relaunch. Several times It fell from the sky trailing edge down when the wind dropped to zero and as soon as there is a small gust it just flips back by itself on the leading edge and it wants to relaunch. The opening on the wingtip is a brilliant addition it really helps relaunching. Not sure what's happening but it's 100% relaunch for me in 2 years with these kites.

I have a 10m boxer from 2018 (maybe 2017, can't remember).

1.) It does not relaunch as well as a cloud in flat water, so maybe you've just been spoiled
2.) The relaunch is pretty good, except towards bottom of range. There is definitely a wind band that I could ride with a foil, but not relaunch the kite.
3.) It is more susceptible than my other kites to stalling if you are stationary, so if you are in shallow water, walk towards it a bit while trying to relaunch.

If I am going to use the pull on the opposing front line I would put the kite on its back first and use nearly all front line pull until that wing tip turns into wind. I also find it helps to trim the kite in so it will be able to fly forward more easily. Obviously you are pushing the limits but in flat water i would have thought you stood a chance if you perfect this technique. You can practice this on the beach apart from the moves to get the kite on its back, on the beach you just have to hold the front lines and walk forward.

Be careful not to wrap a line around the bar, or your hand or anything else!!
