3rd time snapping north lines

I have snapped a lot of lines kiting over the years - all kinds/brands.. but I am fairly new to north lines and they are not that old.

Am I just unlucky?! I chucked some slingshot lines on for now now.

i want to buy a big roll of decent line - what should i get ? liros SK-60, SK-75, SK-78, SK-90? 1.5. 1.7 2.0 (prob over the top?

i know line off teh roll i bought in teh past seemed like it was not pre stretched?!

The best (strongest) line is Dyneema SK99, try Liros, Southern ropes or Marlow. I would buy a 500kg (front line set) and 350kg (back line set). You will struggle to splice 1.4mm line, buy it from a shop that can sleeve it. You 100% need sleeved kitelines (except for Q-line) contrary to what I often read on here! The reason it the sand/salt abrasion at the kite larks head connection point.

I been doing figure 8 overhand loops without sleeves for years, have never snapped one but have snapped many times at bottom of splice and where sleeve joins.Also at completely different spots from my overhand knots while they remain in one piece.

I wish I had a test bench to see the real readings on this. Not saying it is stronger or as strong.. just my BBC experience.

What iteration of North are we talking about? Are these lines from the newer (2020/2021) North Navigator, or the old Duotone/North?

Possible advantage then of the North Navigator lines, which have swappable pigtails at their ends (I swapped them around for my Naish Pivots), so if those fail just replace. I hope it takes a long time though!

That's because a lot of kite manufacturers are a bunch of lazy and cheapskate pigs that favour quick manufacturing over quality. Fortunately there are more and more nowadays that use splices plus pigtails. Using only a sleeve creates a weak point right below the sleeve, because the line will open up there and sand and dirt will accumulate inside, eating the line from inside out over time. A splice with properly tapered bury keeps almost 100% of the line strenght and wont upen up to let dirt in.
