F-one Mirage 800 and 1000 Carbon 2020/2021 (V3)

Postby Paskite » Wed Sep 23, 2020 11:45 am

Dear all,

I would be very curious to have feedback of riders that have tested or owned these two foils. A comparison between them would be super (pro, cons, real program...).
I have a Zeeko blaster that I love...but it is quite heavy to transport or travel with. I am looking for a full carbon and the Mirage F-one are on my list ;)

Thanking you in advance....

Hello Paskite,

I have tried it and it really works great. My partner has been using it since mid-August and is delighted with it still wearing an aluminum pole.

I am undecided between Phantom or Mirage since I have tried a Phantom model and they are great too. Another thing that is a plus point apart from having an integrated carbon fuselage, is that the tail of the fuselage can be removed and it can be used in monofoil mode.

I have only tried the monofoil twice, once with the Gravity 1200 and the other with the Phantom 1480 and the truth is that it didn't cost me too much to navigate, especially with the Phantom because of its aspect ratio.

Right now my hydro strapless is a Gravity 1200 with pocket carbon 110.

A greeting.

Thanks for your feedback!

"I have tried it and it really works great. " Did you try the Mirage 800 or 1000, or both ;)

Best regards

So I have the Mirage Carbon 1000 and ridden 20+ times in the last 2 months. Before that I had the v2 Mirage 1000 and 800. Unfortunately, I haven't ridden the new Mirage Carbon 800. I also have the new Gravity carbon 1200.

The new MC1000 is a great wing, design-wise it is quite different from the v2 but the underlying feels is similar but just polished in every way - smoother ride, you can push it harder through carves and pop a tip out and little or no cavitation. I felt that in the v2 range the 1000 was the better wing that the 800 but with the wings being redesigned for the v3 range and the MC1000 (v3) being such a refined product my assumption is the 800 will be equally good if you want something a little faster. Though the 1000 can be pushed to decent speeds and the lift evens off nicely as you get faster so it's controllable. I'm 105kg and ride the 1000 as my main wing but my coaching partner Danny also rides the 1000 and he is 73kg, so its pretty versatile.

The other thing worth mentioning is the construction - way lighter than the v2 and so much stiffer due to the integrated fuselage.

I'd love to try the 800 too, I think it will be a great wing. I believe Titouan uses it for Wingfoiling, so must be pretty good for it to work for him in that way.

Sorry I can't offer you the comparison to the 800 but my guess is that either will make you a happy foiler :-D

I have the mirage 1000 & 650.

The 1000 is fantastic, especially with a single skin foil kite in smaller sizes, I also found it great for learning to gybe etc, however like any big wing it is doesn't glide as well as a smaller wing and can be a handlful in large chop, also not great with a bigger kite. When I just want to do some long runs with a bigger kite and relax I go for the mirage 650 which also turns well and has much cleaner glide.

As much as I resisted getting more wings I do think two wings is a great investment, I like having such different experiences so playing around with the 1000 and a small kite and picking up small waves and having more of a playpark type experience to those days with a bigger kite, normally some sun, the 650 wing, listening to music and doing long chilled runs.

I tried the mirage 800 but didn't feel it was giving me the best of both worlds.

I have just bought the escape 510 for a more racing feel as well which I like, I am selling the 650 if you want it, it will have to be sent from the UK though.
