I can't offer a number, but what I can say is two days ago, as the wind dropped at our flat water spot, the 8m P4 was the last man standing. Outlasted a 15m Chrono and a 12m Kitech FRS. All three of these riders are experienced light winders. Also outlasted a 17m OR Aluula Flite, but I don't know the skill level of that pilot.
Correction; I was on a 6m FRS on Wednesday, not a 12m FRS.
Hi all you Peak lovers,
I´m super happy with my 5 m² Peak4. Now I´m contemplating on getting the 8 m² version as well.
The 5 m² works for me from 11/12 kts until maybe 17 kts (75 kg / Moses 633).
Will the 8 m² cover 8/9 kts to 12 kts?
Would be very interested to hear about your experiences regarding the wind range of the 8 m².

I personally only have a 5m right now, but am becoming more and more tempted to get an 8...
How can it be ? why do 5 m peaks 4s have more power than ither kites'bigger sizes? is it because they are faster?

Today on “my” gusty inland little pond spot.. wind 15 - 19 kts, gusts 29kts, lulls 10kts (? Don’t know exactly, Kite stays in the air waiting for the wind), 1200cm frontwing.
The 4m was doing fine in these conditions, what a great size this is!
In the gusts going downwind keeps the kite Fly able with tension on the back lines.

So, we seem to go round in circles on this a bit. There's a consensus that the 5m, 4m, & 3m are "fun" because they are small, light & lively with great drift for riding downwind on waves or swell. But there's some hesitation about recommending the bigger sizes because they are slower & so lack some of the qualities that make the smaller ones appealing. However ... there's still a place for a kite that works in light wind ie. sub-10 knots for an average ( 75 - 85 kg) foiler. For that wind you could get a 10m or bigger Soul, but that's a lot more expensive & "complicated than a Peak4. An 8m Peak4 may not be as much fun as the smaller Peaks, but how much Peak4 fun performance is it reasonable to expect in 10 knots or less?
So, you come back to the question of how light a wind do you want to foil in? Will 8m Peak4 will start working in 9 knots? A 5m Peak4 in 12 knots? Perhaps a 6m Peak4 will start working in 10 knots? I think I'm happy with foiling in 10 knots & above rather than chasing the really low wind days. So a choice between an 8m & 5m quiver, or a 6m & 4m quiver?

I tried Peak4 in 8m a couple of times this summer in light wind and it works fine with easy handling in the air and at the beach. Then I got a 12m Kitech Frs and i must say it is so much more fun. The thing is there is not as much downwindwind angle to achieve in lighter wind and playing with peaks drift is limited. The ability to go fast and boost high puts some spice in a lightwind session. On top of that kitech has great depower for foiling and much better high end, so i dont need to go change kites at 13 knots.
It will be interesting to see where the 6m sits inbetween fun and just riding straight.
