I broke the cartilage on my front lower rib during a loop gone wrong with a waist harness, I looped with not enough height, basically got pulled over the bar and hit the water with my weight over the bar powering it up. the harness got yanked up and voila! So now I have one of those famous bumps. So when going for kiteloops and boosting I use a seat harness which has the spreader bar low, but still prefer the waist for wave riding.
In my case it was a slam for sure.
Painful and unpleasant injury (not too many pleasant injuries).
Now I just manage it to avoid any further damage. Never injured ribs with a seat harness even after big slams.

Man I have had 4 rib injuries but all were from impacting the water. The worst was on a bad S-Bend at the cable park.
The Ride Engine spreader bar sucks! I took it off not long after buying it and put an old spreader bar on from another harness. The spreader bar would turn up and with it being so wide where the straps attach it would dig into my ribs. The same ribs I tore up wake boarding.

... Just not sure if I should go seat (seems like I wouldn’t be able to hold down as much kite) or try the new Ride Engine setup since it may prevent the spreader bar from twisting.
Regards I don’t need to mess up any more ribs.

I’m sure you would be able to hold down even more kite with a seat harness. That’s been my experience and everything I’ve read about other’s experience.

Twist isn't the issue - its the thickness of the spreader/buckle & proximity to rib cage. The Ride looks a very similar size to the Stealth Carbon - so I would avoid.

For me to know, as I m hesitating in between continuing in seat harness(currently) vs waist. Which harness were you guys using.?
The question arrises because during normal kiting I'm very satisfied with seat harness. Bjt during a backroll I fell on my back and that harness gave no support and injured my back. I was thinking to moving f.e to a mystic majestic for this issue which has more padding and ridgid... possibly with these "strappies"
What do you guys think? Currently no megaloops yet, but maybe in a year

Did you buy straps or make your own to do this?
I’ve seen leg straps that can be added but can’t recall which company sells them.

I use a windsurfing harness; they are very low in the waist and the pull is from the hips
