I'm thinking of spicing up life by going fast and get a racy foil set up. Im having an age crisis
I'll never race, I don't enjoy competition. I don't want to boost and jump.
What do you think of strapless speed foiling? Can I use my pocket board? Should I build a racy board without straps ? ( I build a lot of boards).
Or are the straps adding something I'm missing?
I've hydrofoiled for 4 years strapless. Kiting 19 years.
Note: I'm an older bastard (60+) and don't wanna FU my knees or ankles.

I think you can use your current board.
But ask Dirk (tahoedirk), as he rides REALLY fast strapless, and might be able to help you on this one

You'd like my foil:
I've actually added front straps to it though, to make tacks easier:
But you can still run no straps, of course.

Tk, what foil is that?
Was thinking ketos freerace or moses 558/330 or 670/421/400. Ketos needs plate adapter, moses mast i can get with plate. With plate i can use my pocket boards.

I'm always looking for an excuse to build a board. I was thinking of a pocket strapless race board. Thicker profile, bevels, 110 cm.
But be cool to just use my low volume 20mm thick 105cm pocket.

Absolutely, race foils on my 1m pocket boards strapless is my go to ride for flatwater foiling. Foils either KFA mako 2 or Tarroa sword 2.
Tried footstraps for about 2 months recently and have gone back to strapless. Strapless is just so comfortable, didn't feel like the positives of the straps outweighed the loss of comfort.

BL3 is probably the easiest of the superfast foils, definitely the right choice for a freerace if you want something truly fast. Enata. The big question probably comes down to tuttle, pro box, or plate?
