Slingshot is another good option using low v configuration and very high durability lines. I believe the lines they use are made in usa. Thick. Not tangly. Hope they kept using them on the 2021...
Price vs durability - probably best you can find.
Easy to find new from previous years for $300 or so, at least in the u.s.

Breaking strength matters because its helps measure line failure as it relates to the material.

Also abrasion may wear out one or two strands in a twelve strand line braid. Weaker lines will then snap whereas a stronger overall line will continue to perform.

So yeah breaking strength matters imo.

I do agree though that there are different weaves and coatings that are better in terms of abrasion resistance. This is an area that is difficult to test and is not well documented. Mind you when it comes to coatings eventually lines have their coatings stripped off - the historical solution is to wax your lines. Few people have been doing it these last few years but with fancy new lines and bars costing so much, maybe its time to do an annual waxing of the lines.

Tell you, Im a huge fan of DC701 and DC401 after making a custom 5 line lineset for a Naish Torch. Did not stretch or break even in the extremes when working on Big Air/Kiteloops. Ive gone back to those materials for my new custom lineset for Duotone Dice/Rebels. To be fair Naish had the WORST line materials up until about two years ago and even still they stuck with thicker SK75 lines, so it was an easy target to improve upon.

I am glad to see the OEMs finally upgrade to SK99 lines. Its good new tech for our sport, worth the extra $$$ imo.

As far as Slingshot, SS used to be my fav stock lines but they are now behind the eightball. In Cape Town and Maui, I have stretched out and snapped those thicker center lines on multiple linesets. To be fair, all incidents occurred in extreme conditions working on Big Air/Kiteloops for a very heavy rider in 40kts+. Core was the first to offer the better SK99 lines on their Pro bar and however you may feel about Core as a company (controversial imo), they were right about the line materials.

I REALLY love the 401/701 combo for my own personal riding.

My wish was granted - amazing day today in Comox on the 5m Aluula Roam and an Armie 1050HA foil.

Wind was all over the place, local airport recorded gusts to 29 knots and 10-minute average mostly around 18 knots but at times down as low as 6 knots. Air temp between 9 & 10 C. Started riding on the outside of our flatwater lagoon in head-high wind-swell ( wind & waves running same direction ). Awesome, the kite handled great, gusts and lulls and everything in-between. Switched to our flatwater lagoon as darkness approached, absolutely amazed at the low end of this kite on foil.

Gold grin from ear to ear and then some !

Interesting to see that OR put their effort in this wing over say a allround or big air kite (or maybe those are coming as well).
Or maybe they chose it because is a lot easier since you don't need to tweak bridles / shape as much?

Anyhow, I never used a wing but I could imagine the gains are less drastic then a kite.
Assuming the weight normally is supported by the wind anyway I would be interested to see how enthusiastic people are who actually use wings with the prospects of a significantly more expensive but slightly lighter/stiffer version of it.
