Hello,
I would be interested in your opinion. I am currently looking at what I want to buy for a board. Since I don't have that much money at my disposal, I'm looking for used boards as well as material from the past years.
What do I want? To get ahead with my jumps and have fun
I do not do tricks or unhooked stuff. At the moment I manage about 5m. Rarely also the 7m. I mainly ride on the North Sea. (choppy water). I weigh around 80kg. I ride a Trax from the year 2014 (140) and a Spleene RIP39 from the year 2016.
I have a very good offer for a new Misfit from 2018 (136) or a new Brunotti Dimension from 2019 (136). For secound hand I have a Monarch 2020 in mind.
Or do you think it makes more sense to put some money aside for another 4-5 months and then buy a new board. (For example a Raptor?)
There are just too many boards out there...
But based on my instinct I think I would go for the Misfit.
Thanks a lot to all of you for your opinion

I'll have a shinn monk jungle lover I'm going to list soon. Do you kite at camber or whitstable? Do you want to try it before I sell it?

Can't give much input to the different boards. I don't know them, but if you are on a budget I would say second hand makes a lot of sense. Most boards are not worn out (I'm sure some are if used sliding on objects etc., but those are the exceptions I would say). Pads do get worn out though. But not when we are talking about a 2020 board.

Hello Mike101! Thanks for your offer. i have never heard of a shinn monk jungle lover before. I'll check it out. But feel free to put it up for sale. I think it will take me a while to come to a decision.
Thanks a lot Havre to you too. I will probably look for a second hand board.
On the other hand an old model is really worse than a new one? I could get the mentioned Misfit from 2018 with pads for 350€. That would fit very well into my budget. But I don't want to buy anything just because it is cheap. In retrospect it might be more expensive, because I will squint on a better one. Therefore I would be grateful for experiences and tips.
Ehhmm... My English is a little rusty... I'm sorry if I speak funny. What exactly do you mean by "Do you kite at camber or whitstable?" Well, I ride in all conditions. But light wind is not so much fun for me anymore and I do like rougher weather.

My two main hobbies are kitesurfing and cycling (mainly road). So funny reading about new equipment - wouldn't necessarily know if I was reading a bike or kite review. Lighter, stiffer etc. - same words - not even joking.
Not to say there isn't any improvement, but would anyone be able to tell a 2018 from a 2020 board not knowing which was the newer one? I highly doubt that.
If you can get a new board with pads from 2018 for €350 that sounds like a great deal to me (without knowing much about prices outside of Norway).

The monarch is my all time favorite board. If you can get a 2020 in good condition, I would jump. The bigg advantage of the monarch is its ability to let you stay in control in chop.
It is a bit stiff and serious about jumping. I like that board sooo much.

Thank you for your answer Havre. Yes, I thought so too in something like this. Especially since I am far from being a professional
I would probably not notice the difference.
Thank you for your answer tautologies. Unfortunately the monarch I had seen is already gone. The ones that are now also offered as used are over 500€. Unfortunately that is too much for me.
If no one explicitly speaks out against the misfit it will be. But I will leave me a few days to think about it.

Camber and Whitstable are 2 of the beaches in the UK, one of which faces the north sea.
Edit- I'd take the 2nd hand monarch if it was in the right size and in a good condition.

Hi, no I am not from Norway. Even though I find it very beautiful. I come from Germany. I think Havre comes from norway.
And ok. I am a little bit smarter about Camber and Whitstable. Please excuse me for not knowing.
I'll have to think very carefully about what I'm going to buy. Unfortunately I don't have anybody around here, so I can't test ride the boards...
Unfortunately, the Monarch boards are really too expensive for me. Maybe I will save some money and give myself a nice board for Christmas.
