Choosing Freeride foil

Postby JoseTumaco » Fri Oct 16, 2020 3:51 am

I own a Moses 91 mast with 550 wing. I am 75 kg and I hidrofoil 7 months ago, just progressing and taxi gibing but not tacking. I usualy kite in 10/11 stable knots (sea) with 12 M kite foil.

I dont want to race, just freeride, and I found difficoult to progresos in 550 wing. Would you recomend selling the 550 wing and buying something bigger, as 633 wing for example? That is more fun I supose,... (In that case I must change fusselage also).

Would you recomend me another brand in similar quality?

Thanks for your help.

Jose

The 633 wing or any other big wing will give you much more fun and progress.

Yes the 633 is the best selling foil on the market for a good reason it's easy to ride it's fun and reasonably fast but yet it can go really slow too. You keep the mast but you will need a new fuselage since the surf wings use a bigger fuselage.

Hi Jose,
I have the same Moses foil setup as you and a T40 board. I bought a 633 wing 710 fuselage and 483 stab.

Love the new set up and its way more easy to learn transitions etc. But I had to modify my board to make it feel balanced. viewtopic.php?f=196&t=2407905&hilit=front+foot

Note that my mast is one of the old Moses masts that leaning backwards.

I also bought a 679 front wing.
Works like the 633 but its faster. I am about 90 kg. I would go for the 679 wing with your weight.

I can also recommend Gong. They have a complete package for around 900 Euro that works great. You can find reviews in this forum.

Thanks a lot for your advice. What about Moses 679 wing and 101 cm mast? Anyone tried that?

There are quite a few GoFoil packages that sell as end of stock or second hand, and they're worth a look.
I'm pretty stoked with the Kai for kiting. Good freeride option, all carbon, wing floats, super tough, no corrosion issues, and use the IWA front wing for wingfoiling or surf foiling...

The simplest move is to upgrade to 695 wing or to 800 wing. Either fits your fuselage and the rest of setup and will give you much more cruisier setup

Thanks a lot for this option, really interesting for me, but for fun and prgression do you think 679 is very different from 695 (990 VS 770 cm)? Or buying 679 (with fusselage) is a good thing?
