Cabrinha valve trap install

I'm having a similar problem here. My kite is a 2018 North Vegas. One of the straight connectors valve in the main bladder broke at the stem so I need to mount a new valve. But the broken valve looks too hard to peel off.

Are 2018 North valves supposed to be 'welded' and not glued so they can't be peeled off? I will try the water treatment tomorrow, otherwise I will cut it out.

I used near boiling water..Actually water from our hot water butler in the kitchen. allow to sit in water and then try to peel gently...repeat...it is slow but it is effective and if you go slow you will not deform the bladder...try not to cut the bladder.

I used a standard kettle, held my finger down on the switch for a few extra seconds and poured it into a pyrex jug. I then stuffed the valve into the jug and weighted it down with a cup. After 2 mins it peeled straight off. I should have just reglued it and saved my valve trap for travelling.

So far, nothing of this is working on mine. My valve was leaking from a crack at the stem, but the valve base is as firm as can be. There isn't even a little edge to grab it from.

I also emailed AirTime, and someone very helpfully gave me a long answer with several tips and advices. Among other things, he told me to use acetone to remove the valve making sure first that my bladder is not made out a plastic that gets degraded by acetone. I tried the acetone but it didn't do anything, either bad or good.

I will try once more submerging it in boiling water for a minute or two. If it doesn't work I will have to cut it out.

Once cut, the hole left will be 2" diameter, and the big valves sold by both AirTime and FixMyKite have a 4" diameter self stick base. Hopefully I will be fine.

Add a decent amount of salt in the water - this will raise the boiling temperature above 100°C
If it's welded, the PU should soften enough at 115-120°C. If it's glued, nothing might happen. Good luck!

If you search on YouTube for: Inflatable kite valve replacement by Todd Davis you should find a useful vídeo on valve replacement where a valve has to be unglued and then cut presumably because it is also welded in an anular ring. Cannot remember the details and have not had to repair one like this, and don’t know if it is applicable to Cab! But hopefully it may help you!

PS sometimes the valves are glued on the inside of the bladder and this can confuse if not expected..........

plain near boiling water should be enough temp to warm itup. If you go getting exotic you will risk deforming the bladder area and the ^%$#^%$#$ patch wont lay nice and flat and can fail in the future.
