Anyone ride the Shinn Slicer splitboard

Postby Adventure Logs » Thu Oct 01, 2020 3:13 pm

I'm in need of a new splitboard and am looking at the Shinn. Not so sure about the big plastic S though. Has anyone ridden one? Curious to see how it rides and if there was a big difference between the two sizes. Thanks!

Well bumping this up to see if there's been any feedback yet on this board? Anyone?

This is the only review I've seen including the Slicer. I gather supply has been very limited in the UK this year so that may have reduced the number of available reviews. Did you get the Nobile split twin foil in the end?

Yes. I like riding it. The board is slightly heavier than my X-Ride equivalent. The split is solid. The pins straight forward. PM for more details and photos if you want.

Speaking to shinn this board is similar flex to monk which is quite soft, next ‘stiffer’ board is Ronson which is softer comparing to NHP split that you have/had.
Shinn boards both monk & ronson work great in chop but I can’t load them as I do with NHP, pros & cons of free ride vs big air board.
I have some friends on Ronson who jump easily above 12m with LEI but I’m struggling to go more than 8m.
Did you consider nhp split foil board for ultimate light weight travel?

Flysurfer Trip is exact same board as the Shinn Slicer.

Any idea how it compares to the Nobile nhp? I've had one of those for a couple of years, and was pretty surprised how much it feels like a regular board.

I have never tried the Shinn Slicer. However, I can say that the CrazyFly Slicer is the best lightwind board that I have tried.

Hey is there anyone who ridden Shinn Slicer of Flysurfer Trip? As there boards are the same.
I’m having hard time to pick travel board as I’m looking into Nobile Split Carbon. I wanted to get 142cm as for my 92kg I want to make sure when traveling I have slightly larger board for lower wind days.
I will have Jaime 139cm as main board.

Update,

Finally I went for Nobile Carbon NHP Split as its lighter (almost 0.5kg difference) and has less loose items when packed for travel. Slicer/Trip has these loose items that are asking to be lost and needs tools to assemble which seems counter-intuitive for traveling board. Nevertheless I would love to test Slicer/Trip if I had opportunity. I know what to expect from Carbon NHP owning for almost 3 years NHP Split non carbon version but Shinn/FS board is a mistery to me.

Well finally got my final review of the Flysurfer Trip up and compare it to the NHP Carbon split I have. Impressive board but there is a little room for improvement.
