New Foilboard

Postby swampfox » Thu Nov 19, 2020 1:13 pm

Looking at replacing my very used Foilboard. I am 69yo and 96kgs . The two boards I am interested in are the Groove 130 cm and Newind 127cm .I now use a 130cm board ( have tried a 110cm board no joy ) with Moses 633/683 - 91cm mast .
Thanks for your help.

Thanks! Any recommendations on a hybrid foilboard that could also be used for wing foiling? I.e. 40-50 liter.

Thanks for all your help. Windigo my mast position on my current board identical spec. as Groove Skate is all way foward , if I use Kite Foil with less lift do you think I should get the tracks moved foward .Are there no Newind Kite Board Foilers .
Thanks /quote]

On mine I have the mast all the way towards the back of the board to lower front foot pressure. If you use a wing with less lift and moving it forward is still not enough lift in front you can use a larger stabiliser that will make the front go up more.

Over 3.5 years I have owned the groove 130 full carbon 2018 -19, 120 groove carbon glass (the latest 2020 construction) and 2 Newwind 128 full carbon 2018/19 models
The earlier Newind boards were fragile , very fragile, later production versions were stronger, both mine were made by Newwind but sold as the Moses brand( production numbers 3 and 52)
The earlier full carbon Groove 130 L, (actually the 130 groove skates are all 128 cm in length not 130cm) anyways the earlier skates, full carbon, were no where near as strong as the latest slightly cheaper, much stronger 2020 versions, only a tiny bit more weight (hardly anything),
My new version 120cm skate has proven to take a good bit of abuse, bad high hard landings and all manner of rough surfaces to deal with, the foot straps are simply the best, and the anchor points are unbustable, as are the straps, now called soft straps, as your feet just pop out under load, instead of risking twisted ankles like standard type straps, like with the Moses type of straps, they can hurt, I know!
Same weight as you, and can recommend the 130 L groove skate, but myself I prefer the 120cm, it's more playfull feel in all conditions is a delight, but either choice is good, but if you play around in rough choppy water with waves then the 120cm is more fun, the swing weight feels better for fast carving and boosting.
Remember that the bright dayglo colours will fade after a few months of strong sunlight, they all do! That's the problem with the fluorescent bright colours, great for spotting a loose board though😎,
groove Foot pads work the best, the flat grippy pads are superb if a little fragile round the edges when body dragging out and the bar power line and quick release rubs the pad edge a little,

I use the Indiana 4'5 40L for Winging ins strong winds and it is still ok for Kitefoiling.

The 2021 version has Footstrap inserts.

Noone mentions price. Newind seems unbeatable (but don't expect fast delivery!)
