I have 8 and 10m souls and a 9m Sonic 3 (also a 13m Sonic 3). I just use them all for hydrofoiling.

The Sonic is a bit “racier” than the Soul. It sits slightly farther forward in the window. It stalls a bit more quickly when oversheeted. It’s easier to get it to fold a wingtip. It goes upwind a bit better than a Soul and has even more lift than a Soul. It doesn’t have as much yank through a downloop as a Soul.

Here’s a video on my 9m Sonic 3:

It depends on your wind conditions!
If you have stable Wind go with Sonic.
If it’s gusty all around go with the Soul!

But think about the size! If you stay with 8m and 15m Soul, maybe 11m Sonic or 10m Soul makes more sense...

So on the website the 9m sonic has a wind range equivalent to a 12m soul, is that correct im about 75kg and it looks like it may fill the gap between the 8 and the 15soul. Or am I playing mental gymnastics with my self because i want more kite toys

You are right, but if you cannot handle the Sonic in gusty conditions, the Soul would be the better choice!

I need to wite it down somewhere as it seems be case for myself often, owning 7,8,10,11m LEI and Soul 15m I'm seeing room for another Soul 9/10m

I have seen how tricky Sonic 3 can be in 9m in gusty condition... I would consider getting them in smaller size for HF & steady wind but I'm thinking about changing Soul 15m to Sonic same size a little more lower end.

it seems that landboarding is possibly similar to foiling as needing less kite size than full on kite surfing ,thats how i read it , landboarding at speed leaning and sliding is great fun with a fastkite and some good balance , and a hard drying out beach with a bit of sun to bake it
