So cool. Looks like a Lift eFoil doing the towing. Anybody recognize the board he's riding on?

That’s what I’m thinking, also and there’s some text on it about liftfoils.

Maybe a Cabrinha Autopilot board he's riding?

Notice how low and deep the tow rope comes out of the water, and also the hand held controller. The controller is like the eFoil uses and a foil below the unit could be where the rope attaches.

Fun :thumb:

But looks like it would become extremely boring really fast

As with all not wind or wave driven sports

Wonder if it could it could lift someone into the air if they had a kite, like a boat towed parafoil.

I think I remember seeing this thing a long time ago before they figured out how to put it in a surfboard.

I noticed that as well. He's clearly not attaching the rope to the top of the mast (like all of the person-to-person eFoil towers on YouTube). I'm guessing he has the attachment point down by the stabilizer to keep the eFoil's nose on the water?

I remember something like that too, from the late 80s or early 90s. It looked a bit like a sit-down jet-ski, except no seat, and all the controls were mounted on the tow handle.

The concept was introduced 7 weeks ago (Sep 2nd) on the efoil.builders DiY forum, time needed by Damien LEROY (or LIFT) to "adapt" or redevelop their shortest efoil board (Dec 10th).
https://foil.zone/t/electric-tow-boogie/9844
https://foil.zone/t/valhalla-s-tow-boogie-ebuild/11059
According to the following vid "The motor has been in the water for at least a year and half" so the prototype could have been running since spring 2019 in the Malibu area and was never documented.
Don't know if LIFT is going to sell it but you can build this towing device for less than 1000usd.
Motor: 80100 that needs waterproofing 150USD, battery 2x LIPO Tatum 20Ah 12s = 300, charger 100usd, 300A VESC : 250 (not this FLIER one), remote controller and receiver 30, waterproof case: 50usd, miscellaneous 100usd for quality filament for the 3D printed items (nose cone and propeller) + cables + stainless screws + resin to waterproof the motor.
Add 200usd if you want to use an on-the-shelf waterproof motor.
