Which one? Intermediate foilers lkg for better equipment to progress on. Prefer playing in swell, chop n small waves vs going fast. She weighs 122 lvs. Me, 148 lbs. Will use them in the gorge, the Oregon coast maybe and La Ventana. Help us decide. Thanks!!

I’m your weight and have lots of time on 110 and recently got a 170 (just one session so far). I like the 170 and don’t feel it is too big, but if I were doing it over again, I’d probably get the 150 instead. You probably would be happy with either though. I have the 170 classic, I’ve heard the newer two piece ones ride a bit bigger but have never used one.

You are both light, but if you truly want to ride the swell more than power up the kite, the 170 is money. The Classic is a thinner wing profile and lower drag than the surf version that has interchangeable rear stabilizers.

I am ~170 lbs and find the 170 classic hits the sweet spot for me. I want to feel every bit of swell and after moving up gradually with wing sizes find I really need that much area to comfortably slow down and ride swell independently of kite power. At the top end its still plenty fast and never feels too big. I like to shut the kite right off at times, but generally use kite power fluidly throughout my riding. This foil has paired exceptionally well with Peak4 kites and suits strutless and single strut kites where you typically ride a relatively small kite compared to even other foilers.

If you fly to la ventanna, consider the travel size of the classics. The 150 surf might be a good compromise between the two, and better packability.
