More people seem to ask this question than the actual number of kiters who do use a shorter bar.

In my experience, 95ish% of kiters just use a larger bar with smaller kites. 1 out of every twenty, usually newer kiters, downsize the bar with thier smaller kites.

Are you really doing freestyle and handle passes to warrant a shorter bar?

Medium on the 52 setting 👍 works for me on a Drifter 9m.

The large bars are clumsy.

Here's what I go with for my Cabs:

Kites greater than or equal to 14m: 60cm bar
Kites 10m - 12m: 52cm bar
Kites less than or equal to 9m: 44cm bar

Also for the wingtip settings:
Kites 11m and larger = A setting
Kites 10m and smaller = B setting

I used to switch bars with different sizes of kites. Now that the bars are so expensive I use 52cm bars for all of my kites and honestly don’t see any difference.

For small kites, I like the B setting to slow the kite down a bit and get more depower sooner with shorter bar throw. When you're on small kites, you're typically in high / gusty wind, so that fast depower comes in handy. For big kites, the B setting is too much bar pressure, but you hardly notice the bar pressure on small kites. Give the B setting a try on your smaller kites.

Here are some general guidelines for the A/B setting on Cab kites:

A setting kite turns quicker and creates less bar pressure
A setting kite will relaunch easier
B setting kite turns slower and creates more bar pressure
B setting more depower sooner, throw between power and depower is shorter

Most power, best boosting, and best hang time then set it on the B setting.
Fastest turning and lightest bar pressure then set in on the A setting.

A setting for surfboard and twintip. B setting can be hard at the bar on the mid-upper wind range and tires hands.
B setting for foiling for faster depower so don’t have to be fully sheeted out.

I currently use a fixed length 52cm for all my Switchblades - 6M, 8M, 11M, 14M. My next bar will likely be the medium (44-52) which would give me access to the smaller setting.
