I am getting a new 9m. I do twintip freeride and foiling, no waves, no surfboard so far. I want a safe, high performance kite that has a good wind range, handles gusts well and is good to progress with. I have narrowed it down to the EVO SLS vs Nexus 2, but I might be persuaded to look at other options.

Hi Jbrodin, i am also looking for a new kite set, considering a 9m - 11m at this point. I narrowed down my choices to EVO SLS and the Core XR6 actually (or maybe XR7 if I wait few more months).
The EVO SLS seems like a good pick, also heard good things from people who could test it so far. Seems it has a good lightwind capability which should suit the foiling well.
What drawn you to Nexus2 though? Isnt this more suited for wave riding?

Not sure what winds you are looking at but a 9m on a foil is probably around 10 knots range.
Neither the evo SLS or Nexus are super light.
You can ride them but require way more skill then an actual light kite.
For the price of a SLS kite I would consider getting a kauper maverick (700 euro) dedicated for foiling and get a 2020 (so heavily discounted) dedicated twintip kite.
Another cheap light weight option are the gong kites or potentially a peak4.

I have a 10 Soul, a 7m Neo and a 4m Peak4. This kite will be for twinttip on windy days and foiling on moderately windy ones.

I was recommended the Nexus from a guy that has a lot of experience with all Core models. Because of its faster turning speed and playfulness, as opposed to the power of the XR6. The Nexus is supposedly Core's one kite to do it all.

I wouldn't use the XR for foiling, so good choice.
The main thing will be what brands can you easily get ahold of in your area. If Core/Duotone are the main ones, then your choices are between the Evo/Nexus. Both are great kites. Evo probably a bit more twin-tip oriented and the Nexus a bit more wave/foil. You won't regret your choice between either of them. Pick the one you think is prettier?

I have access to all brands, pretty much. Ozone Enduro is also an option.

How about North Reach?
Although, if you already have a Neo and Duotone bar, Duotone Evo or Nexus would be a smart move. You would not need a new/extra bar

I've just switched completely to Nexus 2 - love them. For foiling, waves and general riding.

Ah, yes. Very good good call.

If you can, try before you buy. I'm not a fan of Ozones outside of their foil kites. Fun to watch the Overbeeks on them though.
